Everything I Loved in June

We are already half way through the year. It's crazy how quickly the time has gone and I can't quite believe that I'm summing up what I've loved throughout the month of June already. But without dwelling on how fast the year is going, let's take a look back at everything I've loved in the month of June, I hope you enjoy!

Iron Maiden with my dad

This month, we went to go and see Iron Maiden with my dad, Tom and my in-laws. We went to Birmingham, to the NIA, to see them live. It was a lovely day. It was very hot, with temperatures coming in at just over 30 degrees Celsius, which meant that the NIA was extremely hot as well.

It was probably the hottest concert I have ever been to. Aside from that, we went for some lunch at Dishoom in the centre of Birmingham, and then took a short walk from there to the NIA ready for the gig. Iron maiden were on point throughout the entire set, from start to finish.

Their energy was incredible, being consistent throughout the set, regardless of the heat they were dealing with. All in all, the day was fantastic and I loved being able to spend the weekend with my dad, as well.

Celebrating my dad's birthday at Hickory's Smokehouse

Staying on the topic of my dad, it was his birthday in June, and to celebrate, he wanted to visit Hickory's Smokehouse. Again, it was a very warm day, although not as hot as it has been recently. So a cold glass of white wine went down a treat with my meal.

As usual, I went for their hot dog, not the foot long one though, haha, because they do two. Tom went for just a smoked sausage, whereas my mum went for the chicken, my sister went for the macaroni cheese and my dad had the brisket. It was a delicious meal. Hickory's never fails to disappoint.

We didn't have a bad word to say about it, other than the amount of brisket my dad got, for the money, wasn't really up to par. Other than that, it was great! We went home afterwards to have a slice of birthday cake and then we went home ready to start another working day.

Meeting friends at the park

In June, we went to a local park to meet some of our friends, and to see their children. Again, it was a very muggy day, so Tom's ice cream was very much needed. I, however, went for a boring Calipo, but they're my favourite. I would never choose ice cream over those haha.

It was a wonderful day, spent walking and having fun with our friends and their adorable kiddies. We even managed to walk to a nearby pub and get in a cheeky pint before going home - it would have been rude not to, haha.

Our new sofa for the decking

We recently bought a new outdoor dining set for the patio, which is great for eating dinner and having lunch on. We love that new set. It's a cream rattan set with a glass top and some matching cushions. It's really comfy, but that was always our vision for the patio - a space to sit and dine at.

The decking, however, has a different vibe. We wanted the decking to be the place where people chilled out with a drink or a snack. We didn't want another upright dining set, so instead, we looked high and low for an outdoor sofa.

Could we find one that was suitable and fitted our budget? Could we buggery! That was until we paid a trip to B&Q and saw the perfect resin outdoor sofa set for a reasonable price. The only problem was, that one was a four seater and we wanted something bigger than that.

Making a note of the brand name, we searched the internet for the same sofa but with more seats, and that's when we saw this on Wickes' website. It's the same as the one in B&Q but it seats five people instead of four, and it was cheaper than the four-seater in B&Q!

It was a no-brainer, really. It's from Keter. It's also modular. This means that the pieces can be moved around into different positions. You could have two arm chairs and sofa and coffee table or a standard five-seater corner sofa, for example.

There are loads of different combinations you could have, and that's what we really loved about it. It also stores really easily. It stacks into a tower, allowing for a smaller outdoor cover to be used rather than a really expensive corner sofa cover.

The possibilities really are endless with this set and it's incredibly comfy. It's just what we were looking for our decking, and all for a relatively reasonable price. You should check out the Keter sofas, they also do storage, sheds and other outdoor furniture items.

A new addition to my handbag collection: Michael Kors

We all know how much I love a handbag, and I've added to it again this month with Michael Kors. It's a beautiful bag with gold hardware. I'm yet to take it out, but I can't wait to team it with a summery outfit.

I'm waiting to wear it to a lunch or coffee date with friends or a cute shopping trip at the weekends. Also, I'll be doing a dedicated blog post introducing you all to it, so keep your eyes peeled if handbags are your thing, too!
