How to (Always) Keep Your WC Guest-Ready

When we were looking to buy a house, a non-negotiable for me was making sure that there was a separate, downstairs WC for our guests. So when we made our purchase and renovated the downstairs toilet, there were a few things that I wanted to do to make sure it was always a clean and comfortable place for people visiting our home. So, how do I always keep my WC guest-ready? Let me tell you!

Always have fresh towels

I like to make sure that the towels are always clean, warm and fluffy. The towel warmer is almost always on when we have guests over, and there will always be a clean towel in there for future guests. There's just something lovely about fresh, warm, fluffy towels in the bathroom!

Keep it smelling fabulous

I love when you go into a WC and it smells delightful. I always like to keep the reed diffuser topped up with a gorgeous scent. Right now, it's topped up with a scent from Daylesford Garden Centre in the Cotswolds, and I must say, it really is a stunning scent.

Give everything a clean once a week

Once a week, I'll give the WC a good clean. It doesn't get a lot of use, only really being used by guests as we have another bathroom. But even so, I like to wash clean everything from top to toe. Even the floor gets a mop once a week, whether it needs it or not.

Make sure the loo roll holder is full

Whether you have a holder full of spare rolls or just like to have the holder on the wall full at all times, it's always important to make sure that the loo roll holder is full. There's nothing that makes my heart drop more than realising, all too late, that there's no toilet paper!

Check that hand wash is always available

There's nothing worse than going into a loo and finding that there's no hand wash there for you to use. I'll always make sure that there's hand wash on the sink, and that it's topped up. I'll also always make sure that there's a fresh one in the cupboard for me to swap the empty bottle for, as and when it runs out.

Hoover up

I always like to make sure that the floor is clean and free from debris. So, whenever I vacuum the rest of the house, I will always make sure to give the WC a quick sweep, too. Once a week, the floor gets a mop, too.
