January Favourites

Yes its THAT time of year again! When one month comes to an end, there is really only one thing bloggers can blog about, yep, monthly faves! Before we begin, apologies if this post seems a little rushed, I am snowed in with work and my new YouTube video is taking forever to edit, but I wanted to get my monthly faves up to complement my new YouTube video coming out tomorrow. I hope you enjoy it and if you would like to watch it, I will leave a link to my channel at the end of the post, but right now, we are going to discuss what I have been loving this month, so lets begin!

1. Makeup Brushes
-Real Techniques Buffing Brush
-Real Techniques Blush Brush
-Dirty Works Double Ended Angled/Blending Brush

I love all three of these brushes, the Buffing brush for concealer and foundation, the Blush brush for blusher (obviously) and also translucent powder and the angled side of the Dirty Works brushes for eye brows.

The Buffing brush is the one that sticks out most to me though, I love it, it gives such good coverage to your foundation and it doesn't leave it looking streaky or patchy, the perfect brush if you don't want to splash out on expensive foundation brushes.

The Blush brush is incredible! The domed shape means it only picks up what you want it to, by that I mean, it only picks up small amounts of colour, so it allows you to build, rather than pile colour on to your face all at once. This brush makes any blusher look natural and 'glowy'. A must in every girl's makeup kit.

The angled brush from Dirty Works can only be purchased at Sainsbury's super market. Although it is pretty exclusive, it is a surprisingly good brush for eye brows especially as the bristles are so short and aren't too flexible, it has great precision and it doesn't allow for any loose powder to wander in to the wrong places. This is great for anyone who has no time or patience to fill in their eye brows. It is so easy to control so I recommend it for those slightly lazy people (like me) who don't like to fill in their brows.

2. Lipsticks
- Revlon Lip Butter 050 Berry Smoothie
- Rimmel Moisture Renew 180 Vintage Pink

I have been loving the  natural lip look recently, during the run up to Christmas, I was loving the deep red colour, which couldn't be more contrasting! But these two colours are natural, yet wintery. Something which I didn't think was possible until I came across these gorgeous lipsticks last month.

The Revlon Lip Butters always seemed slightly over priced to me, I didn't feel it was worth spending roughly £8 on, but when Superdrug had them on offer for £5, I grabbed one, tried it and fell in complete love with it. Its a fantastic lipstick, it doesn't feel cheap or smell cheap, it feels lovely on the lips, and, as well has giving a great colour pay off, it also adds a protective layer over your lips to shield them from the cold winter air.

The Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick is such a pretty colour! The warm berry tone adds a naturalistic look to your lips, but it is still obvious that you have made the effort to wear it in the first place. Its such a lovely everyday colour, something which could be worn in the office or even out shopping with your friends, the colour is so versatile and also buildable. The formula is so moisturising and not at all drying on the lips. I might have to go and look the rest of the colours in some more depth I think!

3. Skin Care
- Soap and Glory 'the Daily Smooth' Body Lotion

I love this body lotion, I received it as a gift for Christmas from my Mum and I just adore everything about it. It has a luxurious texture to it, nice and creamy and very nice to apply, its lathers on like butter and is so easy to blend into the skin, it is so hydrating and smooth and my skin feels like it has had a new layer exposed! Such a lovely consistency and it smells incredible. Not your typical Soap and Glory scent but it is not far off, still very vanillery but this one is just a little different which I like. It also comes with a matching shower gel which I have also, which complements the lotion even more! Such a lovely product and well worth the £10 price tag I recon.

4. Random Favourites
- Quaker Oats Porridge Sachets (Golden Syrup Flavour)
- True Blood Box Set Seasons 1-5

I don't often stick to one type of food or even watch any particular type of series for me to mention in your typical monthly favourites posts or videos, but this month I have! They are very random, but loveable all the same!

The Quaker Oats Porridge Sachets are random I know, but they are just so quick, simple and ultra tasty! The sachet comes with a line where you would pour the milk to, in other words, you rip the sachet open at the top, pour the oats into a bowl, then fill the used sachet up with milk, but only to the line that it has provided for you. This way, you don't put in too much milk, or too little, which makes the porridge just right. Its not too watery, or too dry and stiff, it is lovely and creamy, and with more flavours available, I may have to take another trip to the supermarket as I am running out. But golden syrup is my favourite flavour, so I might have to re-purchase this one actually. Although, the new flavours do look very tasty ;)

I have only recently started getting into True Blood, and I am now totally obsessed with everything about it. The actors and multi-strand narratives make it so easy and interesting to watch! Fair warning though, it is for an 18 so keep small eyes away. It does contain drug use, gore, violence, and 'scenes of a sexual nature' for lack of a better phrase, just to warn you! The show is all about vampires and them 'coming out of the coffin' as the show described it. So now, the whole world knows vampires exist, to stay alive, and so they don't kill any humans (although some obviously still do), they live off a drink called 'Tru Blood', and no, I haven't spelt that wrong, the drink is called 'Tru Blood', hence the show's title. If you don't like blood then don't watch it, you wont like it very much (which should go without saying, but you know, just in case.)
