5 Barry M 'Gelly Hi Shine' Shades You Need for a Capsule Nail Polish Collection

Nail polish is perfect for adding a pop of colour to any outfit no matter what time of year it is. From the warm reds and muted blues of winter to the bright pinks and sophisticated shades of summer, a capsule nail polish collection is all anyone needs to get them through the year. Should you be new to nail polish or are simply looking for some new, universal shades to buy, then this blog post will help you! Enjoy :)

Blue Jade

This shade is great for the colder months, mainly because it comes out slightly darker than it looks in the bottle. I find this looks great around the Christmas period, particularly if you paint some glitter over the top of your forefinger. It's a warm shade, but it's not your typical wintry colour either, which makes it stand out more than greens, reds or all-glitter nails. However, this can be worn at anytime throughout the year, it's entirely your choice! I blogged about this particular shade here should you want to read more about it.

Nutmeg

This is a slightly darker pink, blush sort of shade and perfect for any time of year! It's an understated tone ideal for use throughout summer through to winter whilst also being appropriate for every eventuality. Whether you're due to have food with friends or have an important meeting to get to, this shade won't let you down.

Passion Fruit

This is such a bright, vibrant colour that i perfect for the summer time! It adds a subtle hint of colour to your overall outfit with very little effort involved. One stroke of the brush and your nails will be covered in the opaque shade that will last at least a week - even without a top coat. You could even use the polish throughout the spring as well, making it perfect for the warmer transitional seasons.

Red

We can't have a capsule nail polish collection without a classic shade of red. This one from Barry M is the ideal red - perfect for Christmas and New Year as well! This one is great quality for the price and it's also incredibly durable and long-lasting on the nails. You'll be able to go about your daily business without worrying about the condition of your nail polish. You can even put a clear glitter polish over the top of this one to add just the right amount of bling!

Peanut Butter

If you ever see me wearing a neutral nail polish, this is most likely the one I have gone for. It's not too natural that it looks like I have nothing painted on my nails, but then it's not too pale that it makes my hands look washed out either. It's not too boring, but not too out there either, making for the perfect universal shade of nail polish. Whether you have an interview to go to, a sophisticated dinner to attend or drinks at the bar with your friends, this polish is perfect no matter what you're doing or what time of year it is! This particular nail polish featured in one of my 'nails of the week' posts, and you can read that here.
