Some of my Most Recent Fitness Orientated Purchases

If you've been following me for a while now, especially during lockdown, you'll know how running has become a regular thing in my life now! Exercise in general has taken a more prominent stance in my life over the past four months, and for more reasons than the obvious. Yes, the idea of putting on 50 stone over lockdown was a horrible thought, so I decided to just take the plunge and do daily workouts at home to keep the weight off (rather than lose the weight I already had).

Once I started exercising, particularly when it came to running, I realised that it really does offer so much more than just weight loss or maintenance. Over the last four months, I've noticed so many positive changes in both my mind and my body! My outlook on things are more positive, my mind feels clearer and (bizarrely) lighter, my body felt stronger, I'm much fitter, my overall body shape has changed, I've actually lost a bit of weight - the list goes on.

All of the aforementioned have helped motivate me to keep going, so much so I actually enjoy running now, it's something I look forward to as opposed to something I dread and that was a huge corner for me to turn, initially. The stats on Strava (an app used to monitor the distance I run, the time I do it in, elevation gains etc) kept changing for the better, my overall times would go down, I love racking up kilometres over the week (for the past three/four weeks I've done 18km a week), it's just something I've learnt to embrace and love.

Anyway, back to the point of this post, since the running hobby has become more prominent in my life, I thought it would be best for me to invest some money into it in order to look after the physical side of things regarding my body. Running can cause aches and pains, specifically in ankles, calves or shins, if you do it for a prolonged period of time or if you run on a regular basis (I go five times a week). Having done a bit of research online, there are various items you can buy that can make the overall experience more enjoyable.

Based on those recommendations, I went out and replaced my running shoes (which are now six years old), bought more breathable leggings for the warmer weather and I even purchased a foam roller to help loosen my leg muscles after a run. If you like the look, or the sound, of any of the following items then I'll leave a cheeky link to where you can purchase them (non-affiliate links). Enjoy!

FX Foam Roller (Pink)

No matter what I researched when it came to calf pain as a result of running, the solution would always come done to one of these foam rollers. Of course, changing your running shoes will also help (I'm not flat footed), but in terms of recovery after a run, using one of these bad boys, apparently, really makes a difference when it comes to nurturing calf pain.

You can use it on various different body parts, not jut your legs, so it's a worthwhile investment for when I start going back to the gym and doing classes etc. I've used it a few times already and it's seriously one of the best fitness purchases I've ever made! It feels great while in use and you can feel a difference after using it, which is the whole point of this. I feel looser and less sore in areas that were riddled with knots, so give one of these rollers a go because it may well be the best thing you've ever bought :)

It also comes in several different colours, for those of you who don't like pink, so click on the link below and take a gander!

Gymshark Energy+ Seamless Crop Leggings (Black)

These leggings are an absolute game changer when it comes to running during this beautiful, warm weather we've been having. I know they're black (which means you can literally wear anything with them), but that doesn't really make a difference given how breathable these things are! They have now become the leggings I reach for when I go for a run.

I love them so much I may just go out and buy a second pair but in a different colour, mainly because it makes me sad when I want to wear them but I realise they're in the wash...absolute heart break! If you love running in the sunshine, buy a pair of these because it will be the best thing you've ever worn to run in, I promise :)

Nike Downshifter 10 Running Trainers (Barely Rose)

My current running shoes are about six years old now, so I thought it would be a good idea to invest in a new pair! I did some research (again) to see what other people deemed to be decent running shoes. These Nike Downshifters kept cropping up time and time again, so I made the decision to buy them. I'm still yet to take them for a spin, but when I do I'm more than happy to whip up a review for you, whether I love them or not.

Just like with the leggings and the roller, these trainers come in several different colours, including the classic colours like black and white, so if you don't like them in this rose gold colour, then you'll be able to pick up a pair to suit your own personal taste. I know they're meant to be practical, but it's always nice to have trainers that look great as well as feel comfortable :)
