4 Benefits of Drinking Coffee

I am a massive coffee drinker. I barely touch tea, even the herbal kind. The only hot drinks I have, really, is coffee and maybe the occasional hot chocolate. But as someone who loves at least two or three cups of coffee a day,  I thought I'd look up whether or not it was actually doing any damage, but it was quite the opposite. All I could really find was how beneficial it was to drink the black stuff.

1. Your body might be able to process glucose better

A study that was reported on by The Guardian claimed that those who drink more coffee might actually be lowering their risk of developing type 2 diabetes in later life. It can also help with weight loss or weight maintenance, but more so if you drink it black rather than with milk.

2. It's good for your liver

According to The British Liver Trust, coffee can actually benefit your liver. This is because those who drink coffee are more likely to have a healthy range of liver enzyme levels in comparison to those who don't drink any coffee at all.

3. It boosts energy levels

Better Health claims that the effects from drinking caffeine can be felt anywhere between 5-30 minutes. Within this time, you should experience an improvement in alertness and an increase in general energy levels. Depending on the person who has consumed the coffee, the effects could last as long as 12 hours.

4. It could improve brain health

Those who drink coffee regularly are less likely to experience cognitive decline, according to a paper done by the National Library of Medicine. They also found that it reduced the likelihood of developing Parkinson's Disease and even Alzheimer's disease. It also claimed that drinking coffee on a regular basis lowered the risk of having a stroke.
