How To | Homemade Courgette (Zucchini) Crisps
Since I have been getting more into home cooking, I thought I would do another foody post for you! Like a lot of things, I may make this a regular thing on my blog, and once I get more confident, I may show you how to make a few dinners for you and your families :) BUT for the time being, I'm going to show you how to make the ultimate healthy snack, so it will be tasty and nutritious :)
Prepping time: 10-15 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Serves: 4 (if you use 2 courgettes/zucchinis)
*2 courgettes/zucchinis
*2 tbs of olive oil
*Pinch of salt (optional)
*Pinch of pepper (optional)
*Kitchen towel/tissue
*1-2 baking trays (depending on how much you make)
*Pastry brush
*Small sharp cutting knife
PREHEAT the oven to gas mark 8/230C/450F
Cut off both ends of the courgette and dispose of them, then slice the courgette thinly, make sure they're not skin thin, but don't make them too thick as when they cook, they won't be crispy, and instead just be a roasted piece of courgette. You can peel the courgette if you want, but I didn't, you can also wash it before hand, but I didn't see any point in that, but again, you can if you want to.
This step is very tedious, but very necessary or your slices will be too soggy and not crispy at all. Just get some kitchen towel and simply dry each slice, just to remove some the moisture it holds, it doesn't have to be completely dry, but it can't be too wet either.
Get some olive oil and take a pastry brush, or a scrunched up piece of kitchen towel/tissue, and oil the baking tray(s) with it, then place each slice on the tray, they can be touching, but not overlapping. Then, take the brush again and dab the tops with olive oil. You can then sprinkle on the salt and/or pepper at this stage if you wish, but you don't have to.
You don't need me to talk you through this bit, but place them in the middle of the oven on gas mark 8/230C/450F and leave them in there for approximately 30 minutes OR when you can see them going golden brown.
STEP 5: SERVING THEM UP
Take them out of the oven, let them cool for about a minute and then, when still warm, pick them up and put them on a cold/room temperature plate and leave to cool for however long it takes. Then serve them up, either on their own, or use them as a side with a main meal, either way, I hope you enjoy them :)
Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to check back on Sunday as I will have a brand new post for you all!
