5 Reasons Why I Love Having a Spring Birthday
If you weren't aware, I've just had a birthday, around a week or two ago now (a big birthday...30!), but it got me thinking about the different seasons that people have their birthdays in.
It's nice to have a bit of time between Christmas and also to get winter out of the way before having my birthday, but it made me think about why I wouldn't have a birthday at any other time of year. So why do I love having a spring birthday? Let me tell you!
1. The weather is starting to turn & the days are becoming longer
One of the best things about leaving the winter season is transitioning to longer, brighter and sunnier days. That's why I love having a birthday in spring, because the days are so much more enjoyable in terms of the nights drawing in later, the sun being out more and the temperature being warmer.
Spring sunshine is wonderful and it just makes you wish you were sat in a beer garden enjoying a glass of wine or a pint of lager - it's the perfect way to start getting excited for the summer, too.
2. Spring symbolises new & fresh beginnings
When we think of spring, I think of the garden and the flowers coming back to life. I think of Easter and everything that symbolises - new life. I think of lambs being born and little rabbits frolicking through the countryside where we live.
The common thread there is new life, whether it be plant or animal life and everything in between. It's a time where we spring clean the house and declutter our homes ready for a new start to the year.
It's only ever got clean slates associated with it and I'm all for it. What better time of year to have a birthday than spring? I myself am having a new beginning in the sense that I am entering a new year, and a new age.
This year, however, I entered into a brand new decade - my 30's. Even the idea of a birthday symbolises new life and spring is just the perfect time of year for that. This is just another reason why I love having a birthday in spring.
3. The flowers, plants and trees are starting to grow & bloom again
I've touched on this briefly above, but spring is the time of year where your garden comes to life again. It's as season I really look forward to, just so I can watch my garden come back from being bare, grey and drab to becoming bright, green and colourful.
It's the perfect time of year to go for a birthday walk, because the national gardens are open again and in full bloom. What a beautiful time of year - more so than summer, I would argue.
4. Tulips are back in season
I love tulips. They're one of my absolute favourite flowers, mainly because they come in some many different colours and species. Their heads are perfectly oval and dainty and they're just synonymous with spring in general.
It makes me so happy to be able to look out into my garden and see tulips outside as well as seeing them on my dining or coffee table and seeing tulips indoors too, all around the time of my birthday. What's not to love about tulips, whether it's your birthday or not?
5. Birthday presents are generally "springy"
I don't mean that they're bouncy or are on a spring, haha. I mean that the presents I tend to get are spring-themed. They're all pastel-coloured or have little rabbits, birds, sheep and general wildlife on them.
They're all bright and happy and just generally synonymous with the spring season. Whatever you think of when you think of the spring season, my birthday presents are generally themed in that way, which I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!
