Celebrating My 30th Birthday in Walt Disney World

I turned 30 last month, and to celebrate, we jetted off to Walt Disney World for some much-needed Disney magic. While I did go on the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, this wasn't something I did on my actual birthday, but it was an amazing present. Although, despite how unbelievable the tour was, I'm going to be telling you what I did on the day of my birthday at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

The day started off very early, with a trip to the Grand Floridan Resort for some delicious breakfast. I chose the Eggs Benedict and I can safely say it was the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had. It was closely followed by a personal little birthday cake, complete with Mickey Mouse and Mickey Mouse-shaped sugar pieces.

During the day, we spent a very relaxed day at Magic Kingdom. We went on a few rides and rode the steamboat in the middle of the lake, also know as the Liberty Square River Boat. It might sound like a small thing, but the steam boat and the lake it sits on is due to be filled in and replaced by a Cars ride.

So we took the opportunity to ride it before the work began. I then bought a Dole Whip as a little snack, because it is just so delicious. But before you knew it, it was time to head on back to our hotel and get changed ready for our dinner at Sebastian's Bistro.

Once our day at Magic Kingdom was over, we went for dinner at Sebastian's Bistro. This is a family-style restaurant based on the iconic Disney film; The Little Mermaid, which we all know is my all time favourite Disney film.

As such, it was so apt to go for dinner here to celebrate my 30th. 4-year-old me would have been beside herself with happiness if it existed when I was that age. The dinner started off with a starter or pull-apart bread, onion chutney, whipped butter and a delicious garden salad, accompanied by a Pina Colada.

The main course was then a selection of meats, including steak and fish, as well as some tasty coriander rice and some seasonal veg, including plantain, which I have never had before. This was closely followed by a pineapple bread and butter pudding. But dessert didn't stop there.

Tom had actually arranged for a Mickey Mouse to be shipped from the heart of Disney Springs to the kitchen at Sebastian's Bistro, which they brought out when pudding was served.

It was a mouthwatering, light and chocolatey cake with lots of layers and a smooth, velvety finish on the top. I'd give anything to have a slice of it again right now, it was THAT delicious.

Just as you probably thought the day was done, we decided to go for a few drinks down in Disney Springs, hitting up Wine Bar George as a go-to place seeing as I am, myself, a wine-lover. We drank our beverages with an amazing view and with the sounds from a live band playing underway. It was a Friday night, so the place was jumping - what more could you ask for to end an already incredible birthday?
