Lunch at the Yak & Yeti in Disney's Animal Kingdom
Located in the heart of Disney's Animal Kingdom, Yak & Yeti is an incredibly popular restaurant offering a wide range of tasty dishes from a number of cuisines. Not only is the food incredible, but it's decorated and built to look the part, fitting right in with its surroundings.
In fact, it blends in so well, you might end up walking right passed it on your travels. In this article, I'm going to be taking you through what I had at the Yak & Yeti, including a main course, a pudding and Amanda the Panda (just wait for it, haha). So let's get right in.
Korean Beef, Honey Chicken, Pineapple Upside- Down Cake & Amanda the Panda
Let's dive right into the main event. You can see the full main course menu at Yak & Yeti here, if you want to see what else they have, but Tom went for the Won Ton Soup on the side and the Honey Chicken as a main course. I just had the Korean Beef as my main option.
Tom's Wonton Soup comprised of: "pork wontons, clear chicken broth, vegetables". It might sound like something simple and bland, but it was actually really tasty. Tom managed to have all of the soup, finishing off the broth as well.
The wontons were strange at first, but they has a lovely taste to them, especially if you dip them in the broth for good measure. Now, let's move onto the main courses: Honey Chicken and Korean Beef.
Tom's Honey Chicken consisted of: "tempura chicken tossed in honey sauce, stir-fried vegetables". It doesn't include any rice or noodles, so Tom chose the noodles as a separate item. While they don't look like noodles, I can assure you they are, despite their unusual width, haha.
While I can't speak for Tom when it comes to the overall flavour of the dish, I do know that it was incredibly spicy, but absolutely delicious. It's always a good sign when he clears his plate, and cleared it he did. I think that's all we need to know, haha! Now, let me take you through my main course choice - the Korean Beef.
The Korean Beef dish was definitely an excellent choice for me. It had a spicy kick but it was just so tasty. I didn't want the meal to end, it was THAT amazing. I would go all the way back there tomorrow just to experience this dish again.
The Korean Beef consisted of: "wok-fried beef, peppers, onions, pineapple, Korean BBQ sauce". You might think that stir-fried beef would be tough and chewy, but it melted in the mouth. Unlike the Honey Chicken, the Korean Beef meal actually comes with a choice of either rice or noodles, and I chose the Jasmine rice to go alongside it.
When I say it was incredible, it really was - no BS. If you end up visiting the Yak & Yeti on your Disney World travels, then I would strongly suggest the Korean Beef if you're looking for something truly tasty and packed with flavour.
While you might think that, after all that food, we couldn't possible have any room for pudding, you'd be mistaken, haha. Of course we had room for dessert. There weren't that money options available, which is surprising considering there's a separate Yak & Yeti dessert menu, but we settled on the pineapple upside down cake, and that was a great choice!
The pudding consisted of: "vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, served upside down", and of course, that includes the pineapple cake itself, haha. It was so light and fluffy, and it was packed with fruit. You couldn't really ask for a better pineapple upside down cake!
Now, you're probably still wondering who, or what, Amanda the Panda is. Well, she's a souvenir cup that can only be found here at the Yak & Yeti. She's sold to you filled with either a fountain beverage or an iced slushie drink.
We went for a mixture of two iced drinks, one being the lemonade slushie and the other being the strawberry slushie. That's why she looks both pink and white on the bottom. She comes equipped with a straw in the back of her head, making for easy and convenient access when you need to wet your whistle.
It was great because we could take her everywhere with us, sipping on an ice cold beverage while we basked in the heat of the spring sunshine. If you're a sucker for things like this, then I recommend getting Amanda the Panda for a solid $13.99 - she's worth it!
