A Review | Nescafe Iced Coffee Espresso Range: Caramel & Vanilla
In case you've not noticed already while being with me here on the blog, I absolutely love coffee. So anything that is designed to go with it is of great interest to me. When I saw these in Tesco, I just had to give them a try. They're £5 each, but they're often on offer, so keep your eyes out for some great deals in the supermarkets. Anyway, let me take you through these new Nescafe Iced Coffee Espresso flavours.
Nescafe Iced Coffee Espresso - Caramel & Vanilla
The first one I tried was the caramel flavour. It's super simple to make. You add a volume of milk to a cocktail shaker and add two "shots" of this Nescafe Iced Espresso in Caramel to it. Chuck in some ice cubes and then give it all a shake.
This makes the milk nice and frothy, giving it the vibe of a ice cold coffee that you'd happily pay good money for when out and about. I did like the caramel flavour, but the aftertaste is slightly weird.
While it does have a coffee taste, obviously, it's not quite the same as having an actual espresso straight from a bean-to-cup machine, like ours. But it's something that makes a nice change from the norm, especially when the weather gets warmer.
I think out of the two, I prefer the vanilla one. I wouldn't say that they both taste the same, but they are very similar. I find the vanilla flavour a lot less sweet and tangy than the caramel version, which is surprising because I thought I'd like the caramel flavour more.
You make the vanilla Nescafe Iced Coffee Espresso in the exact same way as the caramel one. Pour the milk into a cocktail shaker, add two "shots" of the Nescafe Iced Coffee Espresso, along with a few ice cubes, and shake until the milk is light and frothy. Pour into a glass and enjoy.
I guess the key question is: would I buy these again? I would, but I'd forego the caramel one and I'd never pay the full price tag for a bottle. I don't think there's much difference in taste between the two, but if I had to choose one, it would be the vanilla flavour over the caramel one, just because I find it less sweet and you can taste the coffee more.
I think you get more of an authentic iced coffee beverage from the vanilla flavour than the caramel one. I don't know if there are any other flavours on the market, but if there are, do let me know because I'd be happy to try other flavours in the same range.
Make sure to keep these in the fridge once they've been opened and use them within two weeks of opening. Follow the directions and instructions on the bottle for optimum results (as described above).
