We Finally Made it to Walt Disney World!

We have had this trip booked for three years and at the beginning of June, we finally managed to get there! Our two-week trip was pretty much dedicated to visiting the famous Walt Disney World, with four days spare for going to a shopping mall, having fun in a water park, playing crazy golf (on the same day we went to the water park), visiting the Kennedy Space Centre and there was another day we had free but I can't remember what it was we did instead, haha. I probably should have kept a small diary to be fair.

Anyway, as you might be aware, Disney World is split into four different parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. So I'll be ordering this blog post in much the same way. I'll include some pictures from all four parks so you know exactly where you can go if you like something you see in my photos. I hope you enjoy :)

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is where the Cinderella castle lives. That's pretty much all people will go for, without actually realising that there are other parks you can visit that are on the same plot of land. However, the parks are so spread out you'll need to get transportation there.

You can use the monorail to go from Magic Kingdom to EPCOT, but then from EPCOT, you can get the cable cars to Hollywood Studios and vice-a-versa. However, you will need to drive to Animal Kingdom because I don't think it's serviced by either the monorail or the cable cars, so make sure you do some research before you go.

So in Magic Kingdom, Tom and I got engaged on Main Street right in front of a giant clock that's placed there on the side of the street. If you want to know more about that, then I'll leave the blog post here for you to read :) There's plenty of things to see and do in Magic Kingdom. The most notable attractions we went on included:
  • Splash Mountain
  • Big Thunder Railroad
  • Peter Pan's Flight
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Under the Sea - Journey of The Little Mermaid
  • The People Mover
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant
  • The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
  • "It's a Small World
  • The Monster's Inc Laugh Floor
  • Haunted Mansion
  • Tomorrowland Speedway
As well as loads of attractions to experience, there's plenty of delicious dishes to try and hundreds of amazing drinks you can dabble in, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. There's something there for everyone and, really, that's the whole point of Disney World. No matter how old you are, there's always something there that'll put a smile on your face. So here are a few photos we took in and around the Magic Kingdom...

EPCOT

EPCOT is more of an educational park in comparison to the others. EPCOT features the different countries, the giant ball and the brand new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride. There's a lot more there to see and do besides that, though. Some of the rides we went on included:
  • Test Track
  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
  • Soarin' Around the World
  • The Seas with Nemo and Friends
  • Living with the Land
  • Journey into Imagination with Figment
  • Gran Fiesta Tour with the Three Caballeros
  • Remy's Ratatouille Adventure
  • Spaceship Earth
You can also watch the Japanese drummers as well as the fireworks and water show at the end of the night (like at Magic Kingdom but in front of the castle). You can also take a nosy around some of the shops and from EPCOT, you can get the monorail to Magic Kingdom or the cable cars to Hollywood Studios!

You can also take a walk around the world, strolling through many different countries to experience what it might be to actually visit there in real life. From the architecture to the cuisine and beverages, you leave EPCOT feeling satisfied that you've had a decent taste of what it would actually be like in that country. The countries you can walk through include:
  • The United Kingdom
  • France
  • Mexico
  • Morocco
  • Germany
  • Italy
  • Canada
  • Japan
  • China
  • Norway
  • The United States of America

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom is unlike any of the other parks at Disney World. It's got more of a tropical, rain forest feel to it. It almost feels like you're in a completely different country, it's that well done. Anyway, as you've probable guessed, this is where the animals live. There' actually a makeshift African Safari you can go on which is absolutely amazing. You'll be able to see lions, zebras, elephants, white rhinos, flamingos, giraffes and more!

Animal Kingdom is also home to two Avatar rides; one that's a simulator riding on the back of a dragon and another which is a lot more slow and easy going that's essentially a boat ride. It's also where the impressive Pandora is, so if you like Avatar, then you should totally pay Animal Kingdom a visit because you'll love it.

There are also a few walks you can go on where you'll have the chance to see zebras a bit more up close than on the safari ride, gorillas, otters and some of the most beautiful birds I have ever seen. The food is pretty good as well, we had grilled chicken with rice and chutney and it was delicious!

Animal Kingdom also houses the immense Tree of Life. It's absolutely huge. The pictures do not do its size or magnificence any justice. If you look particularly closely, you'll see that there are lots of different animals that have been almost "carved" into the trunk.

Believe it or not, the tree itself is actually completely fake and you can take a walk in and around the tree picking out all of the animals that appear as you go. It also has, in my opinion, the best Starbucks nicknamed 'Creature Comforts', so keep your eyes peeled for that if you need a caffeine fix.

Some of the rides and shows we experienced included:
  • It's Tough to Be a Bug
  • Avatar Flight of Passage
  • DINOSAUR
  • The animal walk
  • Safari
  • Avatar Land Boat Ride

Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios, although my least favourite park, was still pretty cool. It's home to Star Wars most notably, together with the Oga Cantina and a full-size Millennium Falcon. It also houses the Tower of Terror and The Rock N' Roller Coaster, featuring Aerosmith. It also features a Mickey and Minnie ride as well as the Indiana Jones stunt show and the brand new Star Wars ride - Rise of the Resistance.

Some of the rides and attractions we went on in Hollywood Studios included:
  • Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway
  • Slinky Dog Dash
  • Star Tours - The Adventures Continue
  • Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
  • Muppet Vision 3D
  • Toy Story Mania
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
