Everything I Loved in September

September has come around and concluded so quickly! I can't believe that I'm writing an 'Everything I Loved in September' already. Before I know it, the year will be out. But before I mention the dreaded 'C' word (ya know, Christmas, haha), I think we should focus on everything that I have been loving throughout the month of September. So let's dive right in!

Being married for six months already

This month, Tom and I celebrated being married for 6 whole months. For those who actually followed me while I was posting about my wedding, it might come as a surprise to learn that it's been that long, because we can't believe how it's been that long either. In case you're interested in seeing the blog post I wrote when we got married, I've linked it for you here :)

Watching my best friend try her wedding dress on for the first time

I'm a bridesmaid for my best friend, who is having her wedding in November this year, and this month, I got to see her wear her dress for the first time. I did go dress shopping with her initially, but she didn't find anything she liked.

She then went again with just her mum during the week and found her dream dress. This month, I got to see it in all its glory and it's absolutely gorgeous. She is going to look stunning on her big day and I can't wait to be by her side while she says 'I do'!

Date night with Tom

This month, Tom and I went out for a date night, which very rarely happens these days what with house renovation commitments and what not. So we decided to try out a new pizza joint in the centre of Nottingham called 'Rudy's'. They literally just do pizza and it was so delicious!

Tom had a pizza with sausage on it while I went for one that had had ham, mushroom, artichokes and olives on it - amazing :) The base was super thin and cooked to perfection, and of course, I had to have an Aperol Spritz alongside it all.

We have grass in the garden now!

It might sound like a silly thing to say, but our garden now has grass where there were loads of square concrete slabs. It's been a long time coming and a lot of preparation work was needed too, but we finally got there.

It transformed the garden overall, because we were so used to seeing either concrete or mud, so to see some greenery was a breath of fresh air, and a decision that we most definitely will not be going back on.

A trip to Rufford Abbey with friends

Rufford Abbey is a childhood destination for my family, so it's somewhere that's very close to my heart. That's why, this month, I was so happy to be able to meet our friends there for some much-needed fresh air and also to get my steps in. The sun was blazing down on us for the entire day and the company was just lovely too. What more could you want on a Saturday afternoon?

Giving blood for the 19th time

If you've been following me on here for a while, you'll know that I am a regular blood donor, and I've done it since I was 17. Granted, I had a few months off here and there, either because I've been away or because of COVID, but giving blood is something that I will always make the time to do and this month saw me giving blood for the 19th time. If you're thinking of giving blood, then check out this blog post I wrote all about it, together with three reasons why you should give it a go yourself!

Getting started on laying the patio

Another garden-related point I wanted to make, this month, we made some real headway on the patio laying. I absolutely love the colour and the size of the slabs are just right. I am so in love with it that I want to go out there right now and enjoy the last of the summer sunshine, but the next project is building the steps and mowing the grass, because it's grown so much since this picture was taken, and since the one further up in this article was taken too. So yes, laying the patio is most definitely something that I have loved this month, because it really has been a very long time coming.
