10 Things You Need for a Spa Day
We all love a spa day, but if you've never been on one before, it's easy to go there unprepared. As someone who loves a good spa day myself, I thought I'd give you a list of things you should be bringing with you as part of the experience. Here are ten things you need for a spa day:
1. Flip flops
The last thing you want to be doing when using the spa is to walk around bare foot. As clean as they may be, it's ideal for preventing coming into contact with fungus and other nasty things. It also helps to add grip so you don't risk slipping over.
2. Two swimming costumes
This might sound silly, but one costume will get wet, so make sure you change into a dry one before putting your robe back on or using your towel. This will ensure you stay warm and dry while on your spa experience.
3. Your own robe
While you will be given one to use on your spa day, it can become wet, especially if you've spent some time in the pool or steam room. Having a new, fresh dry one to hand is always a good idea. It stops you getting cold and you won't have to wait for the other one to dry.
4. Comfy clothes
When you leave a spa, you want to feel relaxed and rested. So it's always a good idea to go home in some clothes that are comfortable, warm and dry. Ditch the jeans for a pair of culottes or another loose-fitting pair of soft cotton trousers. You want to head straight from the car into the comfort of your own home without having to lift a finger, and that includes getting changed.
5. Sunglasses
Most spas these days will go outdoors, especially if they have outdoor pools, hydro pools or lovely courtyards with sunbeds. If the sun is shining, then you want to make sure your eyes are protected, especially as you'll be going from dark mood lighting indoors to the bright lights of the outside.
6. Suncream
As I've just said, there are plenty of spas that go outdoors and come complete with sunbeds and loungers to enjoy while you sip on your favourite summer beverage. But as you're catching some rays, it's important that your skin is protected, and that involves applying suncream. Make sure you bring some with you, regardless of the time of year you're going.
7. Water bottle
Spas can get hot, and there are multiple water stations around that are available for you to fill up your bottles and plastic cups that they have on offer. But to stay hydrated no matter where you go it's always a good idea to bring a water bottle with you so that you can fill it up and bring it with you no matter which facilities you decide to use.
8. A towel
Much like the robe, you'll be given a towel as part of your experience, but again, it can quickly become wet and cold. Make sure you bring a spare one so that you can properly dry off after using the showers, before going home.
9. Toiletries
Have a shower before you go home, just to wash off the chlorine and other bits and bobs you may have encountered while you were there. Make full use of the shower facilities while you're there. Wash your hair, your face, your body and your feet. Then warm through and get into those comfy clothes we talked about for your trip home.
10. Hair ties/bands
Make sure that you bring something to keep the hair out of your face. This is especially useful if you just want to have a dip in the pool without getting your hair wet. It's not for everyone, so bring something that will keep your hair out of both your face and the water.
