5 Things You Can Do to Start Your Morning Off On a Good Note
Mornings. I hate them. But what if I told you that I found a few ways to make them more bearable? Maybe these are things that have actually made me start to look forward to the mornings? Here are a few things you can do to start your mornings off on a good note, regardless of the plans you have for the day ahead:
1. Get enough sleep the night before
An obvious one, but something you should do to start your morning off on a good note is to make sure that you're getting enough sleep. It's no good getting up in the morning and trying to put a positive spin on a new day if you're feeling tired from the night before. Go to bed at a reasonable time to make sure you feel refreshed the following morning.
2. Make a breakfast you like
There's no point telling you to eat a healthy breakfast, because a healthy breakfast isn't necessarily going to be something you like. There's no motivation to get up in the morning and cook yourself something that's going to be boring or tasteless.
So make something that you know you're going to like. Make something that you know you'll look forward to when you go to bed the previous night. This helps to put a positive spin on the start of your day, rather than starting it off with something negative.
3. Do some form of exercise
I'm not going to preach exercise to you all, because it's not something I appreciate, even as someone who does exercise. But exercise can mean more than high-intensity running, workouts or cycling. It could just be a quick walk around the block and block of a morning.
It helps to get the blood flowing and it means you've been up and out at the start of the day. You'll find you feel less lethargic at the start of the day and less groggy by the end. Who doesn't love getting some fresh air from time to time?
4. Do a bit of journaling
Journaling isn't for everyone. You either won't have the time or aren't a wordsmith. But no matter your relationship with the written word, it can be good practice to do a spot of journaling when you wake up in the morning. Journaling doesn't have to been writing.
You can draw pictures or cut and stick things out of magazines or books. Journals are incredibly personal things, so use yours how you want to. It can also help to make your brain more active as you wake up in the morning - perfect if it's a working day.
5. Drink an entire glass of cold water
Nothing sets you up for a hydrated and refreshed day more than a cup of cold water as you get up in the morning. Not only can it help you to feel fuller for longer, but it also wakes up your insides. Choose the size of the glass you choose, but a cup of cold water in the morning always helps to wake me up ready for another full day ahead, no matter what it is I might be doing.
