Everything I Loved in January
January has gone extremely slowly, as it always does. So when the time came to write my 'Everything I Loved in January' post, I was somewhat relieved to see the back end of the month. But that didn't stop me from putting a positive spin on it. Here's everything I loved throughout the month of January.
Russell Howard Live
Tom bought me Russell Howard tickets for Christmas, and it was nice knowing that we didn't have long to wait to experience the legend that is Russell Howard. This was the third time I've seen him live, and Tom's second. As per usual, he absolutely smashed it.
He left us crying with laughter in fits of giggles and he did not disappoint, as expected. Comedy is very subjective, so you might either love him or loathe him, but we're definitely fans here in our household. Read more about it here.
The Stranger Things finale
Love it or hate it, the Stranger Things finale took place this month. Despite it going live at 1am on New Year's Day, we actually stayed up late to watch it in real time to avoid spoilers online. But we absolutely loved the ending. It was satisfying and rounded things off nicely.
Despite the backlash it received, we think the ending was fitting, and choose to believe the happier ending as opposed to the more depressing one. I won't say anything on here in case you haven't seen it yet. But give it a watch if you haven't seen ST yet.
Getting back to normal after Christmas
I love Christmas. We all know how much I love the season. But there's something refreshing about resetting the house and giving it a good clean after all of the decorations have been put away and after all of your guests have been and gone over the last couple of weeks.
Something I loved about January was giving the house a "spring" clean, so to speak. I couldn't wait till March so I spent most of my free time deep cleaning things, like the fridge, the extractor hood, the windows, the bathrooms - everything I don't normally have the time to do during a typical working week.
You might think I sound mad, but I actually really enjoyed it. Not to mention I did a bit of a clear out and had a declutter as part of that annual post-Christmas reset. I wanted everything to be normal again in time for going back to work, and I achieved that, which I'm happy about, given it's a huge job!
Our new dining table
This month saw the arrival of our brand new dining table and chair set. We had been living with the original one we bought when we lived in a shoe box house six years ago, complete with £20 chairs. As 25-year-olds on a budget, we didn't have really have the money to use on a swanky table and chairs set.
But we do now. Which is why we swapped our foldable IKEA table and cheap chairs for this gorgeous alternative from Barker and Stonehouse. I will be writing a blog post about it in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled for that soon (complete with pictures).
The only thing we need to do now is find a new light fitting for the dining room. I'm sure I'll update you all here when that purchase has been made, but it's difficult to find one we like, which is why it's taking forever. But it's all coming to together now, with the introduction of our new dining table to start.
A new arrival to the family
I couldn't let the month pass without mentioning the fact that our family received a new arrival just after New Year. Everyone is extremely excited and over the moon for the happy couple and their new baby. What a start to 2026!
My new COACH handbag
This month, a made a new purchase in the Boxing Day sales. It didn't arrive until the New Year, but I was so happy to have got this new COACH handbag for such a good price. I'm already in love and want to bring it everywhere with me.
But I've refrained so far in order to preserve it and protect it from damage. But I need to actually use it to get my money's worth, haha. If you want to take a closer look at my new COACH handbag in more detail, you can do so here.
