How Much is My Face Worth?
I get asked quite a lot about the makeup products I showcase here on my blog. Believe it or not, I use every single product to get my everyday makeup look. But there are some items that I sway more towards when it comes to makeup that I know will last all day, regardless of the activity we're doing.
So, in this blog post, I'm going to go through all of the makeup products I wear on a daily basis. But it got me thinking that it would be interesting to know how much my face is actually worth! So, let's find out :) (*All prices correct at the time of writing).
Collection 'Lasting Perfection' concealer - £4.99
I've sung the praises of this Collection 'Lasting Perfection' concealer for years now, and I still believe that this is the best concealer I've used on the highstreeet. But I do seriously believe that it would be far superior to a more expensive concealer product. The coverage is excellent, the durability is incredible, the skin colour match is always spot on and you never need a lot to get the job done.
Estée Lauder 'Double Wear' 'Stay in Place' foundation - £39.50
I've been using this Estée Lauder 'Double Wear' 'Stay in Place' foundation for a while now. Mainly because it has an SPF of 10, so it was great for the summer we've just had. It's also amazing for holidays. It allows me to get a bit of a tan without actually burning, and I still get to put some makeup on as the concealer doesn't have an SPF at all.
Not only that, but its coverage is exceptional, it lasts all day and the skin tone match is seamlessless. However, be warned, recent reviews suggest that Estée Lauder have recently changed the formulation of this product, and that skintones have changed without notification.
I bought this before the change, so bear that in mind. But like always, there are still some great reviews for the new product, so it would be good to get your hands on a sample before buying the full size product.
NARS 'Laguna' matte bronzer - £40
I've been using the NARS 'Laguna' bronzer for a long time now. I can't tell you how many I've gone through, especially throughout the summer and while on holiday. but there's a reason for that, and it's because it's just an amazing product.
You don't need a lot of it to get the desired look, it's the perfect shade for my skin and it blends out effortlessly. I love the finish it gives, especially when paired with the product below. It's a sun-kissed match made in heaven.
Estée Lauder 'Bronze Goddess' highlighting powder - £44
I've had loads of the Estée Lauder 'Bronze Goddess' highlighting powder over the years. The one I have is in the shade 'Solar Crush', for reference. It was the most natural shade for my skin, personally. But I love the colour, the level of sheen it gives it just right and it lasts all day on the skin.
Some rain or shine, this is a product that I will never leave out of my daily makeup routine, hence why it's made it onto this list. I have nothing but good things to say about this highlighter, so I'll stop going on before the whole blog post becomes about this one thing, haha!
Urban Decay 'NAKED' eyeshadow palette - £55
I think myself and a lot of other people over the years will have the Urban Decay NAKED eyeshadow palette in their makeup collection, and it's probably been a staple for years now. I know it's been a staple for me for at least the last ten years, if not longer.
I remember buying this for the first time and it was £35, so I couldn't believe, while researching for this blog post, that it had gone up to £55! But if you want my advice, I'd wait for the sales as you can always get some money off.
Debenhams have a sale on right now where you can get this palette for just over £36, which is far more reasonable (correct at the time of writing). Anyway, it's been a staple for me and many others for good reason.
The colours available are superb, I think I've used every single shade ring over the years, even the darker ones at the end. Their staying power is second to none and there's something there for every occasion. This is the palette will always come with on me on holiday, because it's that versatile!
Estée Lauder 'Double Wear' 'Infinite' waterproof eyeliner - £30
This Estée Lauder 'Double Wear' 'Infinite' waterproof eyeliner is something I've used for a long time now, at least the last seven or eight years. Don't get me wrong, I've probably had about four or five of them, but it's something I'll keep repurchasing because it's just incredible and it works so well for me.
I think I'd be devastated if they discontinued it, I love it that much. You might think that £30 is expensive for an eyeliner, but I'm that happy with it that I would happily keep paying that price. It doesn't transfer, it doesn't fade, it stays on the lid all day long. Even if it gets wet, it will not budge.
The only thing that gets it off is a makeup wipe or makeup remover solutions. Some people have questioned its sharpening ability, but I don't sharpen it. You can angle it in such a way where you get a clean line every time.
It's very soft, so I don't recommend trying to sharpen it anyway. I've never had a problem applying this eyeliner, other than when you run out of product, as it begins to run flat. But that doesn't happen for nearly a year!
Estée Lauder 'Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying' mascara - £33
I had never tried a mascara from Estée Lauder before. I've tried ones from different brands, including YSL, Lancome, Urban Decay and Benefit, to name a few, but this one I've been really impressed by.
As you may have noticed from this blog post, I really do like Estée Lauder products, hence why I thought I'd give this a try! It's become my favourite go-to everyday mascara thanks to the results it gives and the durability of it. It doesn't smudge and it doesn't transfer, despite not being waterproof at all. This is what I'm so impressed by. I think it's worth every penny, personally.
MAC 'Cremesheen' 'Pearl' lipstick - £22
This MAC 'Cremesheen' lipstick is a go-to for me. The shade, which is 'Creme in Your Coffee' is the perfect everyday colour and it's so versatile, making it perfect for every occasion. Its staying power is amazing, and it makes my lips feel soft and moisturised every time I use it.
I happily repurchase this lipstick when I run out, and I will always go for this shade, or something similar. However, I do believe that they've discontinued the Cremesheen range, but I think the MAC Maximal Sleek Satin range is very similar. The only downside? There's no 'Creme in Your Coffee' :(
So, how much is my face worth?
Dare I add all of those things up to give me what my everyday face is worth? Well, that's the whole point of this blog post! Whether you've been adding it up as we've gone along or you've been mentally adding it together at the end, the grand total in £268.49!!! Yikes!
But don't forget, I've acquired these products over time and haven't just gone and splurged all of that at once. Every single product I buy is thought out and researched before I make the purchase so that I'm not wasting money. The proof is in the pudding - they're used every single day.
