BUDGET BEAUTY | Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation Review

This particular foundation has received a lot of hype from the YouTube and Blogger community! Although I am a little late on the blogging front with this product, I thought 'better late than never' and decided to publish this post for those of you who are on less of a budget. Me myself, I hate spending too much money on foundation, around £10 would be the most I would pay for a foundation, but most of the time, I switch it up depending on what offers are on. However, this foundation is so good that I could justify paying the full, and average price of £8.99.

First of all, the packaging is pretty awesome! The colour is very different to any typical foundation that you would find in a drugstore. The vibrant top makes it easy to see and grab in your makeup draw which is very convenient if you are in a rush. The only down side is, it is glass, (which I do like) but you cannot see how much product you have actually used, and because the bottle is glass, it means you cannot scrape out the remaining product, despite this, I do love the packaging.

Rimmel London claims:
  1. It has a moisturising texture.
  2. Applies smoothly.
  3. Leaves skin feeling soft and comfortable all day.
  4. Gives an instant, flawless and natural looking finish.
  5. Minimises premature skin aging.
  6. 100% pore-less coverage.
  7. Eliminates signs of tiredness.
  8. Peptides increases elasticity.
  9. Skin recovers and bounces back quickly.
Yes, that's a lot to say about one foundation, BUT everything that Rimmel claims it does, is very accurate, if it wasn't, it wouldn't have received the hype that it did. Although I cannot comment upon 'prevention of premature skin aging', however, the 'pore-less finish' claim is true! Once applied onto the face, it goes on very smoothly and is very easy to apply and blend into the skin, it soaks in very well and pores are no longer visible (on me anyway as everyone's skin is very different'). The smell of the foundation is very nice, it doesn't smell fake or like it is full of chemicals, it reminds me a lot of the smell of sun cream.

The actual foundation does have a hint of sparkle to it, but don't worry! You wont look like a vampire from Twilight! The shimmer is very subtle and is not noticeable at all unless viewed very closely which isn't likely to happen. The fact that it has a slight shimmer to it makes it great, not only for every day use, but also for a night out! The foundation is very buildable, so for everyday use, you may just want to apply it once, but for a night out, you may want to build it up with a couple of coats to get extra coverage.

It doesn't look cakey or orange if built up so you wont look like an orange, but make sure you get your colour, I know it sounds stupid, but with this particular foundation, it is very easy to get the wrong shade, my number is 100 True Ivory as I am rather pale, but don't go too light, or too dark as it can look  a bit odd. It does give a very dewy, natural finish, it doesn't dry matte, so if you prefer the matte finish, you would be better off setting it with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.

I like the way the product can be dispensed, you can use the pump which is a very clean and efficient way of getting the product out, or you could unscrew the top and get the product out that way, although I am not quite sure why one would do that if  pump is available but if you do not like the pump function, there is an alternate way in which you can dispense the product.

It doesn't just come in three standard colours:
  • True Nude
  • Ivory
  • True Ivory
  • Soft Beige
  • Classic Beige
  • Natural Beige
The various colour options makes this product a lot more available to lots of different people with lots of different skin types and skin colours, so its a great product for every one!

The product does have great staying power and durability! Lasting approximately 8-10 hours, its great for everyday use and also for nights out! Just make sure you blend it in well and set it sufficiently.
