7 Sunday Rituals to Set You Up for a Good Week

You want to kick start your week in a good way. You don't want to turn up to work Monday morning feeling rushed and shattered from a busy weekend. So here are some things you can do to ensure that your week starts well and runs as smoothly as can be.

1. Meal Preparation

It's so easy to skip this step. Whether you're trying to stick to specific portion sizes or calories that you consume, this is such a good way to save you time and it also allows you to think about other things, and not what you're going to be having for lunch that day.

There's nothing worse than getting up in the morning, realising that you've not got anything prepared for lunch. So instead of a much needed coffee and a bit of toast, you forego that to make a sandwich and throw in a bag of crisps. Although this isn't the healthiest of lunches, it's better than having to go out on your lunch break, spending extortionate amounts of money on food in town, rather than bringing your own packed lunch.

To save yourself time and money, decide on Sunday what you want to eat that week. You can prep five lunches that night if you so wish, or simply have a list, buy the bits and bobs you need and make them the night before. This way, you don't have to worry about what you'll have for lunch that day, as it's already been sorted. It can also help save you money as well, mitigating the need for you to go out and buy a £5 cheese toastie from Starbucks.

2. Choose Your Outfits

This one probably doesn't seem very important, but trust me, it is. How much time do you waste in the morning deciding what it is you're going to wear that day? You could save so much time getting ready if you already have your outfit planned out. From the top to the shoes you want to wear to the coat that will top the ensemble off, plan plan plan.

When it comes to getting dressed in the morning, it will be a breeze as you know that you'll look fabulous!

3. Tidy Your Space

A tidy room is a tidy mind. That goes for everywhere in your house. Every Sunday, have a tidy up and clean of all your essential spaces in your house. The places where you'd regularly go in the mornings while you're getting ready, and in the evenings while you're relaxing. It increases productivity and it can also make you happier, knowing you'll be waking up to a clean and tidy house, and coming home to one as well.

4. Pamper Yourself

This one is quite important. When you're so busy all the time, the one thing you need to do is take care of yourself. There are many ways in which you can do this, go to the gym, drink more water, eat home cooked meals, have your 5-a-day, the list goes on. But what I enjoy doing is pampering myself.

When I go all out on the self-care front, I get in the shower, shave my legs, wash my hair, thoroughly clean my face, do a face mask, lather on a hair mask, take the face mask off, rinse off the hair mask, moisturise my face and body, brush out the tangles with a wide-tooth comb, get some clean PJs on, get into some fresh bed sheets, read a book or a magazine and get an early night. Sounds like a long process right? But it isn't rushed, it's all done at a nice pace, I leave plenty of time and I feel like I'm ready to take on whatever the week decides to throw at me. Give it a go yourself!

5. Get Focused

This is easier to do than you may think. Sit down and write down everything you want to get done that week. It doesn't matter if you don't do them, but set some little goals and see how many of them you can hit, without going all out and stressing over things. There will be something that needs doing that week, so get focused and find some motivation and determination to get it done! You've got this :)

6. Plan, Plan, Plan

This one isn't unlike the previous point I made, but as well as setting small goals for the week, plan out how you're going to reach them. What are you going to do on Monday to get it done? What about Tuesday? And so on. Planning can be helpful, it means you're less likely to forget about things and it will also keep you busy.

7. Clear Out Your Handbag

This is a biggie. Your life is often contained in your handbag. You can fit all sorts in there, your purse, a diary, your phone, perhaps a makeup bag or a bag with other little bits and bobs in like hair ties, nail clippers, pocket tissues or plasters. You don't want to be disorganised, rummaging through used tissues, crumpled receipts and soggy apple cores. Get rid. De-clutter your bag, put things back where they should be and organise it in a way which is good for you. Remember what I said about a tidy room being the secret to a tidy mind? Well the same goes for your handbag.
