*Meet the Business | Arden Coffee

*This blog post contains gifted products

If you know me, you'll completely get my love for a delicious cup of coffee, but let's face it, there's only so far a commercially-branded one can take you. I've found myself becoming bored of store-bought, commercialised coffee brands, yes, that means Starbucks, Costa, Cafe Nero, need I go on?

There's just something impersonal about them, like you're constantly in a never-ending line of coffee lovers and drinks are almost chucked out onto a conveyor belt for you to snatch up. As much as I do like a cheeky Starbucks every now and again, there's something about it that, for me, has just gone off the boil.

In a bid to find and try new, more independently-roasted coffees, I threw out an Instagram story a few weeks ago asking for recommendations for great coffee, and almost all of the responses I had were suggesting small, local businesses, including Arden Coffee. I thought I'd give them a try first and you know what? I was not left disappointed!

From the customer service to the mouth-watering coffee, Arden Coffee really stood out to me as a brand and so I'll definitely be purchasing from these guys in the future. And ya know what? Christmas is only around the corner, so you might even be able to find the perfect gift for your coffee-loving friends and family - they don't just sell coffee beans *nudge, nudge, wink, wink*, just so you know.

Who is Arden Coffee?

Arden Coffee is an independent, local, family-run business with over 25 years of experience in the industry, so basically, these are the guys to go to for top quality tea and coffee. They're able to serve Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Yorkshire and the surrounding areas, so you'll always be able to have your coffee needs met by Arden Coffee.

Now that we're all back to working from home for the time being, their delivery service is such a lifesaver. I don't think I could get through the day without at least one cup of coffee, so it's absolutely gutting when you go to make one and BOOM, your machine has run out of beans. So really, you can kiss goodbye to those days, because you'll always have freshly roasted coffee all the time with their reliable door-to-door service.

If you aren't sure about the type of coffee to get, they have a team of experts who will be able to make some recommendations for you, so rest assured that you'll be provided with a delicious coffee (or tea) to perfectly suit your taste buds.

Not only can they provide you with a coffee delivery to your home, but they can also provide businesses such as coffee shops, tea rooms, hospitals, play centres and even golf clubs, with tasty tea and coffee. Supplying a range of sectors with delectable hot beverages, you can't go wrong with Arden Coffee. With reasonable prices and a dedicated team, I promise, you won't be left disappointed - especially if you're as much of a coffee addict as I am.

As well as all of that, they're also able to provide a wide range of other products and services for all of your tea and coffee needs, whether you're wanting to keep your personal machine stocked with coffee or require a hefty amount for commercial purposes, you'll be able to count on Arden Coffee - trust me!

The coffee beans I tried

I was sent three different varieties of coffee to try, so I've listed the details about each one below!

Original 93 - Medium Roast (Double Award-Winning Coffee)

"Since 1993, this quality blend of Brazilian and Honduras beans have been offering smoothness with a citrus flavour to envy most other coffees."

80% Arabica
20% Robusta

Origins: Honduras, Brazil, Cameroon, Vietnam
Roast Colour: 95

A coffee that's more for those who love a flavoursome cup, but not one that's too overwhelming or too strong. I find that some coffee beans, even of the medium-roasted variety, can be so strong that they leave you feeling dry and thirsty - but not these. You won't need a glass of water to accompany this one, instead, you'll actually be able to enjoy the taste of the coffee, both while you're drinking it and after you've finished it.

I get a satisfied feeling in the morning after drinking this one, I don't really need anything to go with it, nor do I need to eat or drink anything else after it, it is just perfect for those who only drink a couple of cups of coffee a day. It would also be ideal as a cosy beverage at the end of a long day or, you could even make some up in a flask and bring it out on a Sunday morning walk.

Ethical 93 - Medium/Dark Roast

"Smooth and well-balanced, a rich blend of Brazil, Honduras, African and Vietnamese beans with notes of chocolate and toasted cereals."

80% Robusta
20% Arabica

Origins: Brazil, Cameroon, Vietnam
Roast Colour: 81

As one of the smoothest coffees with the most flavour (no matter what size you go for), this is by far one of the best ones I've tried from an independent roaster. The slight mix of beans makes for a completely unique coffee experience, so much so, I've actually filled my coffee machine to the brim with these beans, so we had to get down those before trying any of the others in this blog post (hence why it took a while to get this post published), but that doesn't mean to say that we didn't love the other beans that were gifted to us.

This coffee is perfect for those who prefer a stronger, more pungent beverage, making it perfect for those who prefer their coffee black or with milk. These beans give just the right amount of kick to an espresso in the morning or even a more silky, warming drink in the evening, after dinner, but with a biscuit or some chocolate to finish the day.

Deluxe 93 - Medium/Dark Roast

"A complex, sophisticated blend of mainly Arabica beans from Central and South America fully-roasted to give a smooth, balanced, aromatic flavour with a little added Robusta for a rich and satisfying cup."

84% Arabica
16% Robusta

Origins: Tanzania, Peru, Ethiopia

This one, along with the previous coffee, is my absolute favourite from the beans we were given. I'm definitely more of a dark roast gal, preferring a more punchy flavour, mainly because I drink a lot of my coffee with skimmed milk (the red top one). So I find that some light/medium roasts just don't cut it when you combine it with something else, but this coffee is balanced just right!

As I've said before, some coffees can be so strong that you feel thirsty after drinking it, and when I saw the colour of these beans, I was worried that it would be the case here. However, I was totally wrong because these are absolutely divine! It produces a smooth, almost velvety coffee, making for a very enjoyable drinking experience, particularly as the cold, dark nights draw in.

This coffee is delectable either on its own or with a slice of seeded toast and butter in the morning. It is also delicious when accompanied by a dark chocolate digestive or even a couple of Oreos as a light, afternoon snack. I highly recommend this one, particularly if, like me, you love a coffee with a kick!

My verdict?

Having tried a wide selection of their coffee beans, all of different flavours (which makes for a different coffee experience every time), I'll be recommending their coffee beans to everyone! Whether you're a coffee fan or not, you should definitely give some of their beans a chance (you can have them ground if you'd prefer). I think it could make even the most hardened of tea drinkers switch to coffee, even if it's just a cup with a biscuit or a slice of cake on a cold winter's day.

Their prices are also very reasonable, so you can grab some delicious, high-quality, barista coffee beans without breaking the bank - something very easily done if you buy copious amounts of branded coffee on a regular basis. Whether you're looking to keep your home machine topped up or if you own a cafe that needs a constant supply of freshly-roasted coffee beans, then Arden Coffee will be able to lend you a helping hand!
