The Makeup Products I'll be Reaching for This Christmas

With a year of lockdowns and being confined to the house or months on end, it gave me the perfect opportunity to try out new products and combinations that I otherwise wouldn't have had the time to try. So basically, I've developed a number of new favourite makeup products and I because I know I'll be reaching for them this Christmas, I thought I'd share these products with you, just in case you wanted i on the action. So without further ado, let's get into it :)

L'Oreal Paris 'True Match' foundation (Ivory)

If you've been following me for a while, you'll know that I've been raving about this foundation for a while so, admittedly, it's not a 'new' favourite - but more of a classic choice for me, makeup wise. L'Oreal are brilliant as their concealers and foundations come in a number of different skin tones, making it perfect for everyone.

The foundation itself is a wonderful colour match and easy to blend, providing me with the most ideal canvas for applying the other products that'll feature in this blog post. Although, I feel like I mention this every time I mention the L'Oreal fave, and that's basically the fact that I'm still on the lookout for other, durable foundations to try. Whether high end or drugstore, I'd love to get a few recommendations from you guys, so leave them in the comments or let me know via Instagram, thank you!

Collection 'Lasting Perfection' concealer (Fair)

Firstly, I'm loving the new packaging, I feel like it's more sleek and it even feels more luxurious than its predecessor. I have been raving about this concealer for a very long time, so again, this isn't a new find, but you just can't go wrong with this particular concealer. It never creases or dries in weird places, but it also blends beautifully into the skin, effortlessly gliding over and covering up any spots or blemishes you might have - an excellent product all round.

NARS matte bronzer (Laguna)

I bought this back in July and I've been using it as a contour shade pretty much since then. It's quite possibly the most natural-looking bronzer I've used, specifically for contouring. I've decided that once I hit pan on this, I'll be repurchasing it because it's like nothing I've ever tried before, and I've used the sleek contouring palette in the past - this NARS product blows that out of the water.

It goes on very smoothly, it's extremely pigmented and it's an absolute breeze to blend into the skin. It also lasts all day, so you won't have to worry about constantly reapplying it throughout the day. Also, because it's so pigmented, you only need to pick up a tiny amount of product, so I'm hoping that this will last me a good amount of time!

If you're interested in the other blog posts that this product features in, then I'll leave them below, together with a link to buy if you're looking to take the plunge.

Charlotte Tilbury 'Cheek to Chic' blusher (Love Glow)

I was very excited to try this blusher, mainly because of the shade. I read online that it gives you glow that one usually only gets when they come in from the cold - something quite apt for the winter time. Where a more bronzy, golden glow is perfect for the summertime, a more rosy look is more ideal during this time of year.

It goes on beautifully and it's highly-pigmented, making it perfect for application in a hurry. If you swill the brush around the whole pan, you'll pick up some of the highlighter, which will give that gorgeous, dewy sheen that completes the face makeup combination, so much so, there's absolutely no need for additional highlighter - a bonus in my opinion.

Benefit 'Gimme Brow' brow gel

For years I was quite content with a using powder to fill in my brows, until I received this in a Birchbox package, and I was converted almost immediately. It's really is a time saver as you there's really no need to be super meticulous with its application. With one quick swipe on each side, your brows are done and it gives such a long-lasting, natural look!

Bobbi Brown Limited Edition 'Jeweled Rose' eyeshadow palette

I've never loved an eyeshadow palette as much as I have this one, which is saying something because I own pretty much every Urban Decay eyeshadow palette there is. This has taken the lead in terms of luxurious, non-creasing, high-quality eyeshadows that give a natural yet gorgeous finish. You could wear this all day long and it wouldn't transfer to the lids or fade over time - something everyone looks for in a decent eyeshadow!

Estee Lauder 'Double Wear' eyeliner (01 Noir)

I have never been impressed by an eyeliner as much as I have by this one! I always have one particular problem when I wear eyeliner - it transfers to the hood of my eyelid, which I cannot stand. The more it transfers the more faded it becomes and then I find myself having to reapply it throughout the day. But this eyeliner couldn't be any further from that.

I have no idea what it's made out of, but whatever it is, it's an absolute game changer! It's also super pigmented, so it's obvious that you're wearing eyeliner, and you can enjoy that look for several hours without having to reapply the product every five minutes. If you have the same problem that I do, then it's worth investing in this eyeliner - honest!

Yves Saint Laurent 'Volume Effet Faux Cils' mascara (Black)

I've tried pretty much every drugstore mascara that you can think of and, naturally, none of them come close to this one. I don't know whether it's because this is a higher end product or not, but I definitely think you get what you pay for when it comes to mascara.

Much like the eyeliner, this mascara really does stand the test of time. As well as that, it's also very pigmented, but it gives a natural look as opposed to the spider leg effect that some 'voluminous' mascaras give your lashes. You only have to sweep this product over the lashes a couple of times to achieve the desired look, meaning you'll be ready to go in no time at all.

Lancome 'L'Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream' lipstick (Rosewood)

I love the colour of this lipstick, it's festive but it's not too 'in-your-face', which I love. Also, as this name would suggest, it's super creamy, which you think would make it quite a drying lipstick, but it's actually pretty moisturising!

To say it's a higher end makeup product, it's relatively affordable for a high-quality lipstick and there are loads of different shades to choose from. Although, this shade is perfect for the transition from day-to-night, meaning you can effortlessly go from office to glam in no time at all.

Barry M 'Molten Metal' nail paint (Pink Lee)

I find this to be an excellent alternative to your more conventional red or sparkly nails around this time of year. It's a chic, more mature take on a glam nail as it's also quite understated, so you'd get away with it for every day use as well as for a special day spent with the family this Christmas.
