The Dulux Shade Making a Statement in Our Living Room: Indigo Shade

When we knew we'd have a living room this big, we both wanted there to be a feature wall. Because the wall was so long and the room so big with lots of natural light flooding in, we thought we'd be able to get away with a really dark colour on that main wall and we were so right.

I wanted to offset it with brilliant white features, like white skirting board, coving, architrave and a light-coloured hearth. I'm so glad we were brave and decided to go with this Dulux Feature Wall colour because it looks so trendy and it makes the room super cosy, especially with the log burner going!

The shade we went for was, aptly named, Indigo Shade, but it's really not very Indigo-ey at all. It's more a navy colour as opposed to a purple-ey blue. We were considering Sapphire Salute, but that was way too purple when we swatched it.

The only downside to this particular paint is that it's not cheap and it's incredibly difficult to work with. Cutting in was a nightmare and it takes a lot to roller the paint onto the surface. It's also important to keep in mind that, although it says it can be done with one coat, this actually isn't the case.

You will need to apply two coats of paint and it takes four hours to go off. But despite the work it took to get it on the wall and looking seamless, I'm so glad we went with this colour as opposed to a cheaper, easier option.
