Delicious Burgers at Silvermere Golf Club
Recently, my boyfriend and I visited Silvermere Golf Club for a spot of dinner. Located in the heart of the Surrey countryside, Silvermere sits in Cobham, on the outskirts of Weybridge. I have a personal family tie to the area, and have frequented this restaurant many times before. Tom, my boyfriend, has never eaten here before, so I thought it would be nice for him to experience more of what my life was like when I visited there as a child.
So let's get into it shall we?

The Restaurant, Atmosphere & Service Received
The restaurant had changed somewhat since I last ate there around three years ago. Their eating quarters have been split in two, with one side being more of a bar/bistro vibe, while the other side was dedicated to grilled food, along with a slightly more posh dining experience. The rooms are quite warm and cosy, decorated with accents of dark wood, bookcases you couldn't get to and modern chandeliers with visible filament light bulbs. The lighting wasn't cold, it was relatively warm, creating a relaxed ambience about the place.
The atmosphere was lovely. Everyone was doing their own thing. Some were having drinks at the bar, while others, like us, were eating their dinner and having a general natter. I didn't feel rushed by the staff members, and we managed to eat our dinner in peace with no interruptions. It really did radiate an element of cosiness, almost as if I was sat in someone's living room - especially with the fire next to us (which wasn't on).
The service was ok, not brilliant but not atrocious. I'd just say they weren't very observant or attentive in general. When my food came, we were asked if we wanted any sauces, we said yes and that we'd like some mayonnaise. The waiter came back with a bottle of tommy K instead...
It wasn't this biggest thing in the world, and I didn't complain, we just laughed it off really. But it does create an impression, especially for my boyfriend who had never eaten there before. The bar staff were a little different in the sense that they pronounced the wine names incorrectly, confidently telling my boyfriend that he had the pronunciation wrong (believe me, he didn't!). By the time that was out of the way, wine now in hand, all was good in general.
The Food
The food was great all in all. For the price and the area this pub is in, the burgers we had were relatively reasonable. I opted for a halloumi and mushroom burger, while boyfie had a cheese and bacon beef burger. We both had a generous portion of chips and it was quite tasty. Some burgers can be pretty bland, underwhelming and completely disappointing, especially the veggie ones. But these were surprisingly delicious.
The dishes we went for...
Halloumi & Portobello Mushroom Burger - inside came a salad, complete with red onions, tomatoes, lettuce and dressing. The size of the mushroom was impressive, as was the amount of halloumi that came with it (some places can be a bit tight when it comes to adding slabs of halloumi on a burger, almost as if you won't notice!). I was given a generous amount of chips, so much so, I couldn't eat all of them - which is unheard of for me!
Cheese & Bacon Burger - boyfie was quite impressed by this burger, especially seeing as he was comapring it to your average pub grub. Like mine, it came with some salad (inside the bun), along with a rasher of thick cut, grilled bacon and cheddar cheese on a tender beef burger. Again, his came with chips, as do all of the burgers on their menu.

To Conclude
Silvermere is a great establishment to either relax with friends over a cool refreshment, or meet with family and bond over plates of delicious food at incredibly reasonable prices (for the area). The staff are nice enough, although not always attentive and the setting is perfect, whether you're grabbing a spot of lunch in the day or wining and dining at night. If you're in the area and are on the lookout for some decent grub, this wouldn't be such a bad place to visit.
