Saturday Night Pizza

Last Saturday, Tom and I (although, it was mainly Tom) decided to try our hand at some homemade pizza dough after finding a recipe and a tutorial on YouTube. We also invested in a solid Weber pizza stone in order for the pizza to come out looking as authentic as possible, so we were pretty excited, and dedicated, to give it a go ourselves.

Having prepared the dough over a day or so, we decided to have the pizza for dinner on Saturday last week and let me tell you, it was an absolute triumph! I won't go into the dough recipe on here as it isn't mine to share, but I will leave a link to the YouTube video we used below just in case you want to give it a go yourself :)

See how we made the dough here!

However, it really does make a difference to how your pizza comes out if you have a pizza stone. As I've said, our's is a Weber pizza stone and it basically helps to give a well-baked, crusty base to your pizza as well as having a deliciously crunchy crust around the outside. A pizza paddle would also be useful, although you might be alright with just a baking tray (you'll see what I mean if you watch the video).

Anyway, once we stretched out our dough, we put some passata over the top, together with some olive oil and some teared basil and then put in the oven to bake. Once the crust browned slightly, we took it out and put on the remainder of our toppings - we opted for fresh mozzarella and chorizo. But you can add anything you want!

Once you've done all the prep for your dough, it's super quick and easy to make. It's a really fun, involved and tasty thing to do, providing you with fresh, beautifully delicious results. What's more, you can throw on as many toppings as you want and it cooks in minutes. It really does taste like something you'd get in a restaurant!
