6 Reasons Why You Should Try a Staycation

A holiday broad this summer isn't looking likely for many of us Brits. Even if we were allowed to go and visit another country, getting flights somewhere would be a nightmare and that's without having to test negative for Covid or being fully vaccinated. That's why more people than ever before are opting for a good, old-fashioned trip to another part of the country.

If you're on the fence about whether to book a holiday overseas or to stay in the UK for your yearly break, then this should sway you to stay, even if it's just for a long weekend away. Here's why you should give a staycation a go this year - enjoy!

It'll be less stressful than travelling abroad

Travelling abroad involves a whole host of different things, before you even leave British soil. Avoid long airport queues and possible, extensive travel delays by getting in your car or looking at coach holidays to somewhere else in the UK. Not only do you not need a passport, but you won't be beholden to any departure times or layovers. Just choose a place in the UK to visit and hop in your car - sorted.

You'll be able to explore parts of the UK you wouldn't have done otherwise

If you've always been abroad on holiday, then perhaps staying in the UK would make a lovely change. You'll be able to experience parts of Britain that you've probably never seen before and often, it can be just as beautiful as other parts of the world. Wales, for example, is gorgeous, as is the Lake District. Do some research into some of the UK's beauty spots and look into visiting their this summer. You never know, it could make you want to spend more holidays in Britain as opposed to overseas.

Lots of money can be saved

A decent holiday abroad can cost a lot of money. As well as accommodation, food and other expenses, you're also forking out of plane tickets, together with any other costs incurred to get to the airport in the first place, including extortionate amounts of overnight car parks. Mitigate all of those expenses by spending your holiday right here in the UK.

All you'll be paying for is the hotel/lodge/Air B&B etc, food, drink and general entertainment. Instead of thousands, you could be spending no more than £300 for a decent city break - worth holidaying in Britain just for that, I reckon!

Help out a local economy

Everyone knows how much help the UK economy needs right now, so help out locally businesses, not necessarily in your area, either, by taking a holiday in England this summer. Whether it be a long weekend or a couple of weeks of downtime, there are loads of places in Britain where you'll be able to enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Even just nipping into a local bakery and spending less than a tenner on some yummy, homemade food will make all the difference to small businesses these days, as they may well be struggling due to the effects of lockdown.

Jet lag won't be a thing

We've all been there, done that and worn the T-Shirt when it comes to suffering jet lag. Well you won't have to deal with that,or book extra time off work just to recover from your holiday abroad if you opt to stay in Britain for your summer break. We're all on the same time here, everyone :)

There's a lot of choice

There are lots of beautiful, peaceful places in the UK that you probably didn't even know existed. But where there are some parts with gorgeous views, rolling hills and lush countryside, there are others that are jam-packed with fun things to see and do. Somerset is home to picturesque villages, whereas London is full to the brim with museums and attractions.

The Lake District is perfect for those who love to go rambling, whereas Norfolk is perfect for people who would rather stay in a hot tub all weekend. No matter what it is you're looking for, there'll always be somewhere in the UK for you to go and enjoy.

If you line it up right with the hot weather, it'll be just like going abroad anyway - I mean, how many times have you heard that it's hotter in England than in Ibiza over the years? - Many!
