Every Autumn Essential You Could Possibly Need
Autumn has come around again, but this year, it's somewhat different. I love to be warm and cosy, so having the heating on is something I'll often do when the turns turns cold. but as we all know, switching the heating on isn't as affordable as it once was, so we haven't been doing that, when we normally would have done around this time of year. As such, my autumn essentials this year will be a little different to last year. So what are my autumn essentials right now?
A jacket that's perfect for layering
We all have to venture out of the house at some point, even if you work from home, so I've been whacking on either a really thick jumper, my Superdry hoodie or a leather jacket. I don't think it's cold enough right now to whip out a more chunky coat, but watch this space! I might be pulling out my teddy jacket soon and I'm not far away from putting the fleece back in my North Face.
A blanket
When the heating isn't on, a blanket can be an absolute lifesaver. I like to keep one on the sofa so we can just whip it off, open it out and snuggle down, all without having to put on the fire or the radiators. I have a woolly one and a fleecy one, so no matter how many guests we have, they'll all be super warm and cosy. But then again, we will put the heating on if guests are coming round. I wouldn't want them to be cold.
A hefty mug
Another way I like to keep warm is buying having hot drinks. Whether it's a steaming cup of coffee in the morning or a delicious, marshmallow-filled hot chocolate at night, it's an absolute staple of mine to be holding a mug of something hot and warming. But you need a cool mug to use, right? I love all of mine in my collection, so much so, I look forward to choosing a different one every morning!
A delicious-smelling candle
Great smelling candles not only makes it seem like there's something baking all the time, but it also gets rid of smells left behind after you've been cooking. Once you find the right scent for you, you'll be absolutely obsessed with it and so will your guests. It makes your home guest-ready throughout the autumn whilst filling the air with rich, autumn-ey scents.
Biscuits
You can't have a hot cup of coffee or a mug of hot chocolate without a little something to go with it. biscuits are just the right little snack to dunk into your hot beverage. Whether you're a coffee, tea or hot chocolate person, you can't go far wrong with a good biscuit - not a boring one, though! Get in some biscuits with a little bit of chocolate on :)
A scarf
It's getting just about cold enough for me to want to cover up my neck and shield it from the wind and cold temperatures. In the East Midlands right now, it's been pretty gusty, with cool breezes across the region. I've been wearing light-weight scarves as opposed to chunky ones because I don't think it's quite that cold yet, but watch this space.
Fluffy socks
I absolutely hate having cold feet. I actually can't stand it! It's something that really does bother me, which is unfortunate because I have cold feet even in the summertime. So with that in mind, fluffy, cosy socks have become my new best friend. Whether woolly or made from cotton, I will always have socks on around this time of year.
