Everything I Loved in October
October went by in a flash it seems. I'm not sure why because I feel like this month usually goes really slow as it's the run up to my favourite season - Christmas. It might be because October has been particularly busy for us this year compared to last year which was more stressful than enjoyably-jam-packed. But that hasn't stopped me from compiling a list of everything I've been loving this month, so let's dive right in!
Our new dishwasher
Mid-October, Tom and I bought and installed an integrated dishwasher as we didn't have one before, so it was a worthwhile addition to the kitchen. There was space for one as we had an old free-standing boiler beforehand that was around 27 years old (which we've, obviously, had replaced now).
It's not a half size dishwasher either, so it's perfect for when we have lots of people round or if we've used more plates etc than we usually would. It's so much better than hand washing all those dishes and then trying to get them all onto the draining rack.
So I've been absolutely loving that this month. It's manufactured by Hoover, but I'm not too sure what model it is. I just know it has a cutlery draw at the top rather than a basket like conventional dishwashers. I'm going to do a blog post on it soon so keep your eyes peeled for that if you're interested!
Seeing Robbie Williams live
Towards the beginning of the month, Tom and I went to go and see Robbie Williams in concert and he was absolutely fantastic. We had a wonderful time singing and wiggling along to the music. So much so I wrote an entire blog post about our experience at Birmingham's NEC. You can read all about it in more detail here if you want to :)
Ozark
This has been on Netflix for a while now, but we never actually got around to watching it when it first hit the screens. Since then, we've sunk our teeth into a few other series, like Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Line of Duty and a few other programmes, but seeing as we're all caught up with those now, we were on the hunt for something else to watch of a weekday evening and Ozark has managed to scratch that itch.
It's about a fella who launders money for the Cartel, but something happens and he makes a deal with them, but it involves relocating his entire family to the Ozarks. He buys up a few businesses to launder the Cartel money through, but not everything goes as smoothly as he first planned.
Starring Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, it seems to go from bad to worse for this all-American family. A dark, gripping thriler of sorts, Ozark is definitely a show you should put on your 'to watch' list if you haven't already do so!
'You'
I starting watching this this month and I was quite impressed by the first season, but as soon as Joe moved to LA, I feel as though it slowed down quite a bit. I wasn't so sure about Love and I did wonder which direction the creators were going to take it, but I must say, it has grown on me.
If you haven't heard of it, the main character is basically a stalker. He spends, what seems like, months stalking a woman named Beck, only to orchestrate their meeting and eventual dating. But Joe has a dark past which isn't fully revealed, at least not yet, and Beck is starting to suspect he has committed a very serious crime.
Anyway, move onto season two and Joe is still up to his stalkerish ways, despite trying his very best not to do it anymore. But what's happened to Beck, who is Candice and how is life in LA going to treat Joe? I'm itching to find out how this show will end!
Homemade pizza
I love pizza, as I'm sure a lot of people do, but they can be unhealthy. In a bid to still enjoy this delicious food but without the guilt of thinking we've eaten something that's bad for us, I thought I'd make my own version. Instead of using traditional pizza dough, I take a flatbread and then spoon on some passata.
After that, I put on one and a half slices of mozzarella cheese with ham and sliced chestnut mushrooms over the top. I'll bake in the oven until the cheese has melted and the mushrooms are cooked and then, VOILA! - the quickest, simplest, healthiest homemade pizza for one! I'll be publishing a recipe telling you how I do it at some point over the next month or so, so keep checking back!
