30 Things You Can Do Instead of Checking Social Media


Scrolling through social media can become repetitive and boring, especially if you don't follow many people or if you don't have a great deal to say or add to the online conversation. With so little to do that's interactive, it's no wonder that people are starting to look at doing other things instead of flicking through their social networking sites. If, like me, you're looking for something else to do that will give your thumb a rest, then take a look through my extensive list below:

  1. Unsubscribe from promotion emails if you're sick of them clogging up your inbox
  2. Plan a coffee date with a friend and have a good catch up
  3. Go to bed a little earlier
  4. Go for a walk around the block or around the local park
  5. Write a blog post
  6. Read a magazine
  7. Read a book
  8. Write down a list of goals and tick them off as you go
  9. Sort through that pile of clutter
  10. Take steps to learn a new language
  11. Give your friends and family a call
  12. Do some baking
  13. Learn how to cook a new dish
  14. Clear out your kitchen cupboards
  15. Do a jigsaw puzzle
  16. Unload the dishwasher
  17. Plan a small gathering at your home
  18. Pick some photos to be printed to display around your home
  19. Get some exercise done
  20. Have a doodle
  21. Prepare your meals for the week
  22. Make a shopping list
  23. Watch a TED Talk on a topic you don't know much about
  24. Make a new playlist
  25. Organise your desk space
  26. Clear out your wardrobe 
  27. Watch a documentary
