How to Stay Motivated During the Colder Months

Winter can be a miserable time of year for everyone. It's wet, it's dark and it's cold. What is there to love, really? Where some people might not mind the frosty weather and short days, others are counting down the days till the brighter and sunnier months make an appearance. While we wait for the spring, here are some ways in which you can stay motivated during the colder months.

Make natural light a priority

I am really someone who thrives and is most productive when the weather is bright. It doesn't necessarily have to to be sunny, but not dark and gloomy. What I do is make sure that all of the blinds and curtains are open fully. I also make sure that there's nothing in the way of the windows and I choose a light spot to be productive in, whether it's work or writing a blog post. I know that winter doesn't come with many bright days, but make hay while the sun shines!

Create some plans for the spring & summer months

It's always nice to have something to look forward to. I like to make some plans for the spring and summer. Whether it be a coffee date with a friend or a weekend away, it's always lovely to know that you have something coming up you know you'll enjoy. Everything leads up to that one thing that you're looking forward to, so you might find that winter goes as quickly as it came around in the first place.

Carve out some time for the things, & the people, you love

Winter can be bleak, so make sure you're spending as much time as possible doing and seeing things you enjoy and love. It's something that sounds quite simple, but it can make all the difference if someone struggles to get through the cold season.

Take some form of regular exercise

I know you must be sick of hearing how good exercise is for your health, both physical and mental, but you don't have to go out and put your running shoes on. It can be something as simple as going for a walk around the block to get some fresh air. You don't have to sign up to your local gym or do a two hour home workout, something as simple as a brisk 10-minute walk can have the same effect.
