4 Neutral Colours We Have Chosen for Our Home So Far

There are plenty of amazing colours for you to use around your home. But where there seems to be a balance between bright and bold and natural and muted, there seems to be a distinctive drive towards wall colours that are classic and timeless.

We haven't actually finished renovating the house yet, so keep an eye out for a few more blog posts that show what we've been doing. But the ones we have done have incorporated neutral colours that are perfect for any house of any age or style. Here are the Dulux paint colours we have used:

Natural Hessian - the guest bedroom

This paint colour has had rather a few compliments since we did the room up. We wanted a colour that was both muted and warm, to give a very cosy and comfortable feel for our guests. We used the colour across all walls, other than the ceiling which we kept white. You can read all about our guest room renovation here, if you want some more details about the room itself and what we did to get it into a much better state.

Pebble Shore - the hallway, stairs & landing

Opposite to Natural Hessian, Pebble Shore is far more grey than it is beige or brown. But having said that, this is still a very classic shade that can be enjoyed for years to come, with some touch ups and refreshes. It's something that goes with everything and anything, even if you wanted to hang some pictures up on the walls or have a new carpet laid for good measure. We painted the ceiling white, typically, together with glossing the wood that adorns the staircase white as well. Jasmine White - the living room

Where you might argue that this is simply a white paint, and you wouldn't be wrong, but it's far more like an off-white than it is anything else. We needed something that wasn't white, but wasn't really dark, to contrast against our blue feature wall.

Jasmine White seemed like the perfect option for us and our living room. I'm sure that this room will be Indigo Shade (navy blue) and Jasmine white for many years, because it's just classic but also so cosy for a living room.

It works here because the room is quite sizeable, so it might not work for a small room, but Jasmine White on its own would be perfect for small spaces. It's also the same colour we used in our under-stairs cupboard, but I won't bore you with the stuff that's in there, haha. Take a look at our living room renovation here, if you're interested :)

Summer Linen - the home office

This was a new addition to our home, within the last year or so. We chose the colour because the room is quite small, with a tiny window that let's a bit of natural light in. With this in mind, we wanted a paint colour for our walls that wasn't white, but that wasn't too bold or dark, because we didn't want to close the room in.

White was a no-go for us as it reminded us of what the room looked like before the renovation, and it also reminded us of our rented place, which we didn't have the best experience with. We did, however, paint the ceiling white, as we have done all of the rooms we have renovated so far. Summer Linen is the perfect off-white colour, but has an element of brightness and warmth, all at the same time.

It looks wonderful when put up against of freshly-glossed skirting boards. This is where we spend most of our time during the week, so it had to be right. If you're looking for a neutral, bright-yet-warm colour that's not white, then Summer Linen is the shade for you! Take a look at our home office renovation here :)
