Our Hallway, Stairs & Landing Renovation: Before & After

If you've been following me over on Instagram, you'll know how long-coming this hallway, stairs and landing renovation has been. It's taken a lot of work but we finally have it in a place we can call 'complete', even down to the cupboard under the stairs, which was in an awful condition when we first got the place.

From moving and replacing the radiator to removing two door frames and replacing one of them, it has been a slog from start to finish, but we can now finally enjoy the modern space we have created together. Also, if you take a look at this blog post I wrote a few months ago with detailed what we had achieved up until that point, it might give you a good idea as to what we actually managed to do in such a short amount of time. So here's our before and after post for our hallway, stairs and landing - enjoy!

What it all looked like when we first moved in

When we first bought the property and moved in back in November 2021, it was all white and the paint was poor quality and whacked on willy-nilly. This meant that we had to sand down all of the walls and even the ceiling before we could actually do anything else.

Something else that happened was that the previous owners had had the walls skimmed, but left the architraves and skirting boards on, so it was all buried in the walls - not ideal when they all need replacing. So it too a lot of plastering and sanding, because we did it all ourselves, but it came out looking great in the end. Take a look at what the property used to look like and compare them with the final pictures for a stark comparison!

What it looked like during our renovation project

When we started on our project, it was a complete mess. The carpet was in pieces, plaster was missing from the walls, it was extremely dusty because of all of the sanding we had to do. There was paint all over the place because all the new skirting boards and architraves needed glossing, our dining room was full of doors because they were all new and needed painting, it was all a-go since January. We even had the front door replaced, which was pending for about a month. So it all took a lot of time but it was so worth the wait. Take a look at our home while it was all going on...

What it looks like now

This is what our hallway, stairs and landing looks like now! Like I've said, take a look back through the pictures and see how it's all changed since we purchased the property. It just goes to show that anything can live up to its full potential if you just have a bit of an open mind and enough motivation to transform it into something wonderful. We're so proud of everything we have achieved in our home so far. If you're interested, you can take a look at some of my other before and after blog posts:
