4 Things I Want to Do Less of in 2025

A new year has begun and instead of starting off the year thinking about things I should START doing, I wanted to think about the things that I want to spend less time doing. I know it's not realistic to completely stop doing any of the following things, because that's just life. However, there are a few thing that I want to cut down on during 2025. So let's dive right in:

1. Stress

This isn't always going to be something I can do less of. I am, by nature, a worrier and a stresser. However, I'm wanting to do less stressing and more relaxing, for my own mental health really. I could worry and stress about the smallest of things, so I'm going to make a conscious effort to think logically about a situation, put it into perspective and take a breather before worrying or stressing out about it. I'll update you on how that goes!

2. DIY

If you've been following my blog for the last three years or so, you'll know that we bought a house that needed a lot of renovation work. We had to gut the place really, including the garden. But having said that, we have done a lot of DIY and the house is 90% done.

So in 2025, I'm hoping that the DIY is going to start ramping down. We do everything we can do ourselves, which saves us a lot of money, and we get to learn some new skills. It also means that the house is done to a standard that we have control over and everything is exactly how we want it.

However, it does mean that everything takes longer that it would have done had we got people in to do our jobs for us. It does take its toll on your life, which is why I'm looking to put DIY on the back burner for a most of 2025. But there's lways a project to be done. Watch this space!

3. Drink

When I say 'drink', I mean I want to drink less alcohol. I'm not an avid drinker by any means. I enjoy a couple of glasses of wine once or twice a week, but I want to half that really to a couple of glasses one every two weeks.

Not only do I think it will help to reduce the frequency of my migraines, but I also think it will help health and weight-wise too, although I'm not making a conscious effort to diet or anything. I'm seeing it more as a lifestyle change: less wine, more water!

4. Spend

2024 was a very busy and expensive year. We got married and went on an amazing honeymoon for almost three weeks. 2025 will also be very hectic, with my 30th birthday just around the corner, a trip to the USA and my brother's wedding on the horizon, too, which will be abroad, just to name a few things.

So I'm looking to spend less money on things like clothes, makeup, shoes, bags and homeware - basically everything I'm a sucker for that is considered materialistic. I'll be sure to let you know how I get on. If I do well, I'll be sure to give you some money management tips at some point :)
