Everything I Loved in February

Here we go...the end of winter is in sight and spring is just teetering on its annual appearance. I'm finally starting to see some more sunshine, the plants are coming alive again and the temperatures are slowly creeping up. But with the change in seasons comes the end of another month - February.

While some may say "good riddance", others, like myself, actually had some good memories and things I'd like to reflect back on in years to come. So with this in mind, here's everything I loved throughout the month of February!

Hickory's for my brother's birthday

This month, my brother turned 28 and he managed to get some time booked off work to come and celebrate it with us. We went to Hickory's which is a smokehouse in Nottingham. We each had something different, so it was nice to have a look at the other options available, because I always choose the hot dog, haha! We even indulged and got some pudding too. The birthday boy got a free dessert, and they all sang happy birthday to him as well - a great end to a special day.

Scones for V-day

This Valentine's Day, Tom opted, instead of the usual flowers, to get me a box of afternoon tea from The Cornish Company. It came with a big pot of clotted cream, two jars of strawberry preserve, four heart-shaped scones, four different biscuits and four teabags. I can tell you that the scones were so light and fluffy, but also delicious, even if you didn't want to have the jam and cream and just butter.

The jam was so tasty and the cream was to die for - incredible. The tea was also delicious, and I don't even drink tea! I would be perfectly happy to order just tea from their website because it was that enjoyable. Anyway, I thought it was such a lovely Valentine's Day gift and definitely something I'll be considering as a Mother's Day gift later next month.

Spending a weekend with my mum & sister

This month, my brother went on his stag do, along with Tom and my dad. So us girls were left all alone for the whole weekend. So I went over to them and stayed with them over the weekend. We went out for lunch at Bird's, followed by a beautiful walk in the sunshine with the dog, and then we spent the evening at the cinema.

We watched the new Bridget Jones film, which was a scream, but also quite sad, surprisingly. Sunday was a lovely day too. It was just myself and my mum going for a coffee and having a good old natter - everything you wouldn't talk about with the men around, haha!

It was quality time that I don't often get with my mum, so it was special to me that we got to spend that time together. Later on Sunday, I went home, ready to start a new week. I couldn't have asked for a better weekend!

Sun after 5pm

It's that time of year where spring is definitely telling you that it's on its way. The sun has stayed up well after we have finished work, and I am so here for it. Gone are the short days and long, drawn-out nights. It makes such a difference to just have a bit of daylight at the end of the day, especially when the weather has been so bad. Long may it continue!

A pancake breakfast at Bill's

The start of this month saw us making a necessary trip into town, which we rarely do these days as we live out towards the countryside, so it's quite a trek. But while we were there, we thought we'd make the most of it and decided to grab some breakfast at my all time favourite restaurant - Bill's

If you've been following my blog since the start, you'll know that I am a sucker for Bill's. From their dinner menus and afternoon teas to brunch and breakfast options, I have tried it all! I can verify that the pancakes are incredible, but the portions are MASSIVE. I couldn't eat half of mine, but it was delicious all the same.

I want to go back again to try the avocado on toast, because that looked amazing too (from what I could see from my table of other people's breakfasts, haha). If you're looking for somewhere nice but affordable for breakie, then give Bill's a go if there's one nearby.

Yellowstone

Yellowstone is a great television series that Tom and I have been loving recently. The first four seasons are on Netflix, but the remaining ones are on Paramount +, and I am so willing to sign up to that if it means I can watch the entire thing to the end. While it's slow to start, it sets the scene. Starring Kevin Costner, it's set on a ranch in Montana and it's seems to be land that everyone wants to get their hands on.

With just the right amount of sentiment, it's also packed with action and violence to balance it out. I really recommend watching it if you haven't already, because it's just brilliant. The acting is awesome too. There are also some twists and turns along the way that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout - definitely worth a watch if you're bored with hat's being pumped out onto the telly these days.
