4 Inexpensive Date Night Ideas for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and there are several things that you can do to mark the occasion. But there are multiple ways to bring Valentine's Day in that won't break the bank financially. Planning a wedding and going on honeymoon hasn't left much room for lavish romantic celebrations, which is why I thought I'd mention a few cost-effective ways in which you could have a date night this V-Day. So here we go!

1. Watch a film in the comfort of your own home

You already pay for your streaming services and TV licenses, so why not make use of it in the comfort of your own home? Valentine's Day is on a weekday this year, so it's far more simple and hassle-free to choose a film and watch that with a glass of wine and a few chocolates and sweets. Mix things up and make the cosy, romantic Friday night come to you instead. Choose a film that's light-hearted. It doesn't have to be a romantic film, just one you know you will both enjoy.

2. Go for a walk

A walk costs nothing. Unless it's pouring it down with rain or if it's extremely windy, then a nice long walk is the perfect way of celebrating Valentine's Day. It means you get some fresh air, but it also allows you the time and the privacy to have a nice, long chat. Use the time to hold hands, exchange funny stories - or romantic ones - and laugh. Just have a generally lovely time reconnecting and making use of the time that you wouldn't ordinarily have on a weekday evening.

3. Have a coffee date

Coffee dates aren't free, but they are low-cost. Even if you choose to visit a local coffee shop or a Starbucks in the middle of a retail park, it will cost you around £3 per coffee and you can find a cosy corner where you can sit, drink a lovely hot beverage and just enjoy each others' company. Like the other things on this list, it's something we don't make time for on a typical weekday evening, which is what makes Valentine's Day this year all the more special.

4. Play some board games

Board games aren't just for Christmas, they're for bringing out when you want to have a bit of light-hearted fun. If there's a competitive streak in both of you, then board games are perfect for bringing out on Valentine's Day. Only good emotions run high, you can have a laugh and some fun all at the same time. What's there not to love about board games? Unless it's Monopoly, in which case, wait till the weekend so you can spread it out over a few days, haha!
