5 Tips for a Natural Makeup Look

We've all been there when it comes to getting ready in the morning, or with a limited time to get ready in. I often struggle to find the time to do a full face of makeup, so I go for a natural look that takes five minutes to complete.

Less is more in some cases and that's definitely the case when it comes to makeup and cosmetics. So let me give you some of my own tips for creating a natural makeup look in no time at all.

1. Stick to a light concealer only

A light concealer is a great way of brightening up the face with very little effort necessary. In addition, a light concealer colour provides the perfect base for other makeup products, such as bronzers, blushers and even eye shadow, if you bring the concealer up and over the eye lids. It also means that it will match your skin colour, so you won't have the issue where your face looks darker, or more orange, than your neck.

2. Brush your brows & lightly fill them

Something I often forget about when it comes to doing makeup is filling in the eyebrows. But I don't want to over-fill them when I'm in a rush. Therefore, what I do to fill them without going overboard is to brush them with a spooly and then lightly fill them with a tiny angled brush, focusing only on areas that look slightly bare. Make sure you tap off any excess product as well so that you don't make your brows too heavy. We don't want slugs on our foreheads!

3. Opt for very little, or no, eyeliner

I like to use pencil eyeliner on my upper lashes, but where I will only apply a small line, sometimes I choose not to wear eyeliner at all, but the impact and statement is just the same. Not only does it save time in the morning, but it also makes your makeup look even more natural than it would have done otherwise. Brown eyeliner is also a great alternative if you think that black eyeliner is a little too harsh.

4. Choose a decent brown or clear mascara

Going back to the switching black makeup products out for brown, the same can go for mascara. Sometimes, black mascara can look a bit severe, so brown mascara might be the way to go if you're really wanting to go for a natural makeup look.

Brown mascara is absolute dedication when it comes to making it look as though you have makeup on without making it overly obvious. Brown mascara will elongate the lashes and make them look thick and luscious, the colour alone isn't harsh or too dark - ideal for a natural makeup look.

5. Pick a neutral eye shadow shade

It can be easy to opt for dark and unnatural shades of eye shadow, like blues and even pinks. But for a completely natural makeup look, you should opt for eye shadow colours like brown and champagne shades. Light brown shades with a touch of shimmer is the best option for achieving a natural makeup look, steer clear of brighter or darker colours and also avoid matte eye shadow products.
