Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom Lodge: Our Experience Dining at Sanaa

You might think that Walt Disney World is full of traditional theme park food, like burgers, hot dogs and fries, but you'd be mistaken. while that's true for its quick service restaurants, there are loads of other eating establishments around that offer something different, and one of those on property is Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

If you're a sucker for a curry, then this is the place to go. It's a restaurant that looks over the animals that live in the Savannah, so to speak. While we were there, we saw loads of different animals, the most impressive being the giraffes. We also saw zebras and wilder beasts.

Not only can you see the animals from the windows in the restaurant, but there's also a viewing platform where you can walk around outside to get a better view. Take a look at our animal experience at Sanaa, before I move onto the food, which is why you're all here, probably, haha!

A unique Naan Bread Service, Tandoori Chicken & Giraffe Cake

The food at Sanaa was incredible. I went for the Tandoori Chicken dish, after the most delicious and unique bread service you've ever had. While you do have to pay for it, as it's not complementary, I would say it was worth every penny.

You're presented with five different naan breads and loads of different dips and marinades to go along with it. According to the menu, the Indian-Style Bread Service consists of: "five naan breads and with all nine accompaniments - traditional naan, garlic-ginger naan, spiced naan, onion kulcha or paneer paratha. Accompaniments - cucumber raita, roasted red pepper hummus, mango chutney, tomato-date jam, tamarind chutney, coriander chutney, garlic pickle, red chile sambal and spicy jalapeno-lime pickle."

My favourite was the garlic and hummus dip, and I loved the ginger naan bread as well. It was just the right amount of bread for a starter. It perfectly wet the appetite for the main course - the famous Tandoori Chicken.

The Tandoori Chicken dish wasn't quite what I expected, but for all of the right reasons. You'd think that the chicken would be bright red and come with some side salad. However, this chicken must have been marinated in other spices, as it looked more pink than red. It reminded me more so of how my mum would cook up a tandoori chicken dish in the summertime, which was nice for me.

It also came with some salad and a naan bread, as well as an incredible and authentic mayonnaise drizzled over the top. The best way I can describe it is a gyros, and I love gyros. It was so tasty and filling, but I still made room for pudding, of course, haha. According to the lunch menu, the Tandoori Chicken consists of: "traditional naan, rocket, pickled onion, tomato and sambal mayonnaise."

Now onto one of the highlights of the whole lunch dining experience - the pudding. Not only did it look incredible, but it tasted out of the this world. It's a banana cake, but it comes adorning the print of a giraffe - how cool is that?! I'd go all the way back there tomorrow just for this cake.

It makes you wonder how they manage to create something so perfect. The menu states that the Giraffe Tower Mousse, which is what this is, consists of: "banana cake, peanut butter mousse, banana mousse and caramel with Tanzanian peanut brittle crunch."
