Getting Our Christmas Tree: Woodthorpe Park

We went to get our Christmas tree yesterday, ready for putting it up and decorating it in a week or so. We usually go to Sherwood Pines for our Christmas trees, but since Covid, they've stopped selling them, which is a real shame because you could have quite easily made a day of it. So we had to find somewhere else to buy our tree and this year, we chose a garden centre close to where my parents live.

They sell a range of trees, including firs, spruces and even frasers (the trees they have in the White House, apparently). They also have a variety of heights as well, including 3ft, 5ft, 6ft and 7ft trees, so there's something there for everyone. We looked at some of the wreaths they had, but they were all nearly £50, which was outside of our budget for a Christmas wreath, unfortunately.

The place we went to also had a small market on where independent sellers could come and sell the things they had made. We bought some biscotti biscuits for coffee and my parents bought a few bits as well. We then meandered over to the coffee shop where I myself and my sister had a hot chocolate, only her's had whipped cream and marshmallows on the top and it looked incredible.

Tom went for a coffee and a cinnamon roll whereas my parents, who also had a coffee, opted for a more savoury snack - a pork and stuffing sausage roll. While we were drinking our beverages and eating our snacks, we took a seat and listened to the live choir they had there. They were all singing Christmas songs and carols and it was a real hit!

Not long after that, I bought a Poinsettia to put in the front window of our home and then went on to collect our chosen tree (a Nordman 6ft fir). You picked out the tree you want, take it to the fellas at the front who will chop off then end and net it up for you, then you take your ticket to the shop, pay for the tree and they'll save it for you until you're ready.

Once we were done in the small outbuilding, we took the tree and bundled it into the back of Tom's car. All in all, it was a very productive day and it made me feel very festive and Christmassy. Here are a few photos of the day that I think you might enjoy :)
