The Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive Razor | A Review
I don't often review things like this on my blog, but if you've been with me for a while, you'll remember when I reviewed the Estrid razor that was sent to me. If you're interested in reading about that, just so you can compare the two, then take a look at that blog post here.
I know what you're now thinking: "what does this razor offer that others don't?", well I'm going to unpack this Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive Razor for you, both literally and in the sense of what if has to offer you as someone who chooses to shave over other hair removal techniques. Let's delve deeper into this product so you can weigh up whether it's right for you.
The Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive Razor handle
I like a Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive Razor handle with a bit of weight behind it and this one offers just that. Now I know that not every Venus razor is like that, because I've used some before that are lightweight in comparison. That might be something that you prefer, so it's totally down to personal preference when it comes to the weight of the handle you're holding, but at the end of the day, this handle is heavier than some of the others on the market. Personally, I think this is a sign of a high-quality product, because it's not something you usually get with a disposable razor.
Moving on from the overall weight of the handle, I want to talk about the colour of the handle as well. I thought the colour was just beautiful. It's not often that the overall look of a razor is something that is held as a priority, because they're designed to be functional. I wouldn't mind having a razor that looks like this sat on the side of the bath if I forget to put it away. So before I've even used the Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive Razor, the first impressions of this razor are great. But what about how well it functions?
How well does the Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive razor perform?
The Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive Razor head comes with 5 blades. In the pack, you get three heads included: one to go on the handle for initial use and two spares. This isn't usually something that you get with a razor, especially if you don't fork out enough money to begin with. This is, usually, where the quality comes from.
You really do get what you pay for when it comes to razors, and that includes whether or not the head consists of 3 or 5 blades. You get a closer shave and less of a chance of ingrown hairs with the use of a 5 blade razor head. The great thing about the Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive Razor is that I can easily buy refills for it, so I don't have to keep throwing away handles as well as blades.
When it comes to the actual performance and results it gives, I'm really impressed. Usually, I have to shave my legs every other day, but this one has given me a close enough shave that I still don't need to shave my legs and it's been three days since I used it last. It also leaves a very smooth finish, even if I haven't applied any body butter or lotion.
In terms of sensitivity, I do have sensitive skin when it comes to shaving. Whether I use shaving cream or body wash to shave my legs, my skin does become irritated by the act of shaving. So far, I've been alright with this one. I haven't suffered any rashes or ingrown hairs yet, so we've got off to a good start with this Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive Razor. It's not surprising because this razor is advertised as being great for sensitive skin.
Would I recommend this Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive Razor?
In short, yes. I would recommend it to anyone who suffers with sensitive skin, especially when shaving. I also recommend it if you find that you're regularly shaving your legs, to no avail. I have contemplated having them professionally waxed as it gives a long-lasting result, but I think I'll give those treatments a miss for as long as I'm using the Venus Deluxe Smooth Sensitive Razor. I also love the look of the product itself and I enjoy the weight behind the handle. It really makes me feel as though I am using a high-quality razor for a fraction of the cost.
