So what do you need to make an espresso martini? The ingredients you'll need are as follows: 100g golden caster sugar (alternatively, you can use 50ml sugar syrup), 100ml vodka, 50ml espresso shot, 50ml Kahlua, a handful of ice and 4 whole coffee beans (which is an optional extra).
How to make an espresso martini at home
Now that you have all of the equipment and ingredients that you need to make the perfect espresso martini at home, let me tell you how you can mix the cocktail properly, for results that you can only get from a bar.
Step one: Put the sugar into a pan on a medium heat and pour in around 50ml of water. Only do this step if you don't have any sugar syprup to use instead. Stire the mixture and bring it to the boil
Step two: Allow the mixture to cool by taking it off the heat and place two martini glasses in the fridge to chill while you make the beverage
Step three: As soon as the sugar syrup is cold, pour about 1 tbsp into the cocktail shaker together with a handful of ice, the vodka, the espresso shot and the Kalhua. Put the shaker back together and shake it thoroughly until the shaker itself feels cold and icy.
Step four: strain the mixture into the glasses that you put in the fridge. Don't be alarmed if it's foamy - this is exactly what you want to see.
Step five: add your garnish to the top of the beverage. The foam should hold your four whole beans on top, making for a professional finish. Serve and enjoy!
