How to Start Looking Forward to Mondays
Mondays. They're always difficult to start and tough to get back into, especially if you've had a nice, relaxing weekend beforehand. But what if I told you that Mondays aren't all that bad, if you know how to take a different perspective on them. In this blog post, I'm going to be telling you how you can start looking forward to Mondays, rather than dreading them. So let's get stuck in!
Practice some mindfulness the night before
Sundays have always been meant for relaxing and winding down before the start of another busy week. Take the opportunity on a Sunday night to practice some mindfulness techniques, even something as simple as meditation and no screens before bed. Play some music or sounds that you find relaxing and soothing and empty your mind before bed.
Not only will you find that you sleep better, but you'll wake up the next morning feeling refreshed. Don't just limit meditation and mindfulness to a Sunday night, either. If you generally have trouble sleeping and find that you often wake up feeling groggy, then give some mindfulness techniques a try - you never know how it might help you, generally, in terms of lifestyle.
Don't be in denial
It's easy to dread the concept of a Monday, but just ignoring the fact that it's Monday tomorrow isn't going to make the problem go away. Instead of refusing to even give it a second thought is half of the problem if you just hate a Monday.
Tell yourself and accept the fact that tomorrow is Monday. You just need to get on with it, like everyone else. Also, you'll find that the day will come and go quicker than you think it will, so keep busy and it'll be Tuesday again before you know it.
Plan something that you can look forward to
I'm not talking about booking days off work to go and do some amazing activities, that's just unrealistic and unachievable in this day and age, especially if you have children to think about as well. I'm talking about making plans to go to the cinema that night or buying some bits in to cook your favourite meal.
Watch a favourite film or TV show of yours or make some time to run yourself a hot bath. It could be something really simple, but it'll be so effective in terms of making sure that you start looking forward to Mondays.
