How to Spend 3 Days in Rome
Rome is a stunningly beautiful place, no matter where you end up going across the city. Whether you're an Ancient Rome history buff or just want to take in the sights, sounds and smells of the city, here are a few ideas for spending just three days in Rome that will help you to see everything it has to offer.
Day 1: Visit some key landmarks (Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps & the Pantheon)
There are loads of famous landmarks in Rome that you can visit on your first day. All of these famous sites can be happened upon by just exploring and walking around the city. Take in everything the place has to offer in just one day.
This is even more easily done if you're staying in the centre of Rome. We stayed close to the Colosseum, so it was a bit of walk for us on the first day. But it was so worth it for the views and the landmarks we saw, most of which I didn't think I'd ever get to see.
What a treat it was. Also, the great thing about Rome is that everything is quite close together. You'll be able to see a handful of landmarks in just a few hours, making it a relaxing start to a short break in Rome.
Day 2: Explore Vatican City (St Peter's Basilica, Vatican Square, the Vatican Museums & the Sistine Chapel)
Vatican City is one of the most impressive locations I've been to. Not only are you in constant awe at its size, but you're also taken aback by its stunning design and aesthetic attributes, especially inside St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museums. Don't be fooled, though.
It is a huge place, being its own country. So you need a full day here to appreciate everything that the Vatican City has to offer. But don't worry, because there are loads of places nearby to sit and have a bite to eat along your travels.
Day 3: Take in Ancient Rome (the Colosseum, the Roman Forum & Palatine Hill)
Ancient Rome is magnificent. I haven't seen anything like it, but it as just so interesting and vastly impressive. Whether you're visiting the Colosseum, the Roman Forum or Palatine Hill, you're bound to be struck by its impressive grandeur, even in its state of ruin.
You need to allow a full day, at least, to take in the whole of Ancient Rome and read all of the information displayed about it. It's truly amazing, so definitely take a good chunk of time out of your holiday to visit the area because it's just so worth it!
