The NEW Collection 'Lasting Perfection' Concealer: Is it Still the Same?
I recently bought this new concealer which, to me, wasn't new at all, because it's still by Collection and it is the 'Lasting Perfection' range. However, the one thing I did notice was that the packaging was different and the price had gone up, I'm guessing to pay for a small sponge at the end of the stick, which no one asked for.
But hey ho! Anyway, when I saw it, I panicked. I started to wonder whether they had changed the formula or my go-to shade. But then it got me thinking that maybe other users of this concealer were thinking the same thing about it...is it the same? So I thought I'd write this blog post to explain my thoughts on it.
Size & packaging
Firstly, the only difference with the packaging is the sponge on the end of the stick. Also, in my opinion, I do think you get less product. While the concealer bottle itself looks taller, it's definitely not as wide as the old one.
If you compare the two side-by-side, you can definitely see the difference in width and height. I'd say there was more plastic around the new packaging, for sure! But that's the first difference that I noticed about this new Collection 'Lasting Perfection' concealer.
Formula
The second difference I noticed was that the product itself was definitely thinner than the old product. The old product was thicker and creamier, whereas this new one feels thinner and slightly more oily when compared to its older counterpart.
While it's not hugely noticeable, it's definitely something that I thought felt different as I was using it and blending it in. I had been using the Collection 'Lasting Perfection' concealer for over ten years, and so the difference, to me, was more night and day than I initially thought.
However, it's something that, maybe, an infrequent user of it may not notice. So, with that in mind, it's not a huge difference and it wouldn't put me off using it as my go-to concealer moving forward, provided they don't change the formula of it any more than that.
Price
Of course, the price was going to change with the inclusion of the new sponge that, again, no one asked for. While the price hasn't changed that much, it has gone up by between 50p-£1, depending on where you buy it from. For instance, I would usually buy mine on subscription from Amazon.
But it's gone from as little as £3.50 right up to £5.99 for the same concealer in different packaging. But if you buy the newly-packaged concealer from Superdrug, the new concealer is 50p more expensive than the old variant, which is an easier pill to swallow. So look at the price from different retailers before buying.
Durability
I would say that the new concealer is just as long lasting as the old one. I don't think the slightly different formula has affected the staying power of it, which I'm really glad about. I only use concealer when I wear makeup, I don't both with foundation unless it's a special occasion.
So when you only use concealer as a base, it's important that it does a good job, and that's exactly what this still provides. So there's no difference in its longevity as a base face product, which I'm relieved about. If it wasn't for this, I'd have started looking elsewhere for a concealer.
