How to Spend 3 Days at Niagara Falls
You may or may not be aware that there are two sides of Niagara Falls: a Canadian and an American side. I'm going to be focusing on what you can on the Canadian side, just because that's where we spent our three days. So, if you're planning on visiting the American side, you may have to do some research outside of this. But anyway, here's how you can spend three days on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, tried and tested!
Day 1: The falls
You can't visit any side of Niagara Falls without actually walking down to the Falls and seeing it up close, no matter which side of the Falls you're visiting. On the Canadian side, you can visit the Table Rock Welcome Centre. You'll be able to look out of the windows to enjoy panoramic views of Horseshoe Falls, which is the largest and most powerful one at Niagara Falls. There's also a restaurant up there where you can enjoy a bite to eat and a few drinks.
Next, you should make sure that you do a boat tour. This will take you down onto the water and as far into Horseshoe Falls as possible. You should note that you will get extremely wet, despite them handing out ponchos. What you should do is prepare by wearing a waterproof and maybe bring a change of clothes and shoes, just in case.
Day 2: Attractions, entertainment & the Falls Incline Railway
There are many attractions and different entertainment options around Niagara Falls. As well as some arcades, a haunted house and Niagara Falls' answer to Toronto's CN Tower, there's also some shops, a few eateries and a small garden that will provide you with some escape from the hustle and bustle of the streets that surround you. To get back up to the top, rather than walk up the hills, get a ticket up the Falls Incline Railway for unique views of the waterfall and the grounds below.
Day 3: Niagara-on-the-Lake & wine country
Your last day at Niagara Falls should be spent experiencing the other great views that city has to offer. You'll need to get in a car and drive to this one, but it's so worth the car hire. Niagara-on-the-Lakes is a gorgeous place, filled with small independent shops, little cafes and stunning art galleries. It also borders one of the Great Lakes for extra amazing views.
Finally, take a trip around wine country. There are loads of little vineyards and wineries along the way, both to and from Niagara-on-the-Lake. They're all very reasonably priced and offer a delicious, one-of-a-kind taste of Canada. Canadian wines are never really exported to the UK, so if you enjoy a glass of wine and want to experience something you can only ever do there, then you should put this on your list of things to do if you're visiting Niagara Falls.
