My Top 5: Christmas Films

If you read 'My Top 5: Halloween Films', then I hope you agreed and approved of my recommendations, so I'm hoping this post will be just as fun and hopefully just as popular as that one. If you've seen any of them before, let me know what you think of my choices, but if you haven't seen any or even if you haven't seen just one, I seriously recommend you tick every single one of these films off your list. Lets begin :)

WATCH THE TRAILER

This has to be one of my favourite Christmas of all time. We bought 'Jack Frost' on DVD for my sister to watch, and this film came on the same disc, so we watched it thinking it would be fun but not fantastic. How wrong we were. It's actually hilariously funny, with slapstick comedy and wicked humour, this makes for the perfect family Christmas film. Its way too underrated in my opinion and deserves much more publicity than it it's getting right now. If you ever get a chance to watch it or see it for £3 in the supermarket pick it up and watch it, because it's amazing, trust me.

ELF (2003)

WATCH THE TRAILER

This film is just fantastic. It's funny, romantic and very Christmassy, basically the perfect recipe for a magical Christmas movie. I can't help but think that this film will be as popular in another 20 years as is it right now, I remember when it came out on DVD for a tenner in 2004, and now it's 3 quid, but that doesn't belittle the film anymore, it's become a Christmas classic for many people around the world and I hope it stays that way for a long time to come.

LOVE ACTUALLY (2003)

WATCH THE TRAILER

This is the ultimate romantic comedy with huge names like Liam Neeson, Keira Knightley, Bill Nighy, Alan Rickman, High Grant and Colin Firth and loads of other great actors and actresses thrown in, it mixes the lives of ordinary people and their struggles through life with the festive season and the result is incredible. I've you've never seen it before, please do. It makes you feel all kinds of emotions, from happiness, to love, to sadness, it really gives us all the feels, it's one of a kind and definitely worth a watch at some point over the festive season.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL (2009)

WATCH THE TRAILER

This is the most accurate adaption form the book in my opinion. I read 'A Christmas Carol' every year around Christmas time and I can pretty much follow the lines from the book with the script from this film. Although it's kind of classed as a kid's film, it is pretty dark in places, and some of the dialogue may not register with children, but it's a good one for young adults to watch, it's not too young, but not too old either, it's a nice film, animated by Disney, the effects are amazing and pretty realistic down to the ice on Scrooge's door step. It's one to watch out for on the telly, you'll be in for a treat. The acting is also amazing, with Jim Carrey playing the star lead, surprisingly he does an amazing job at playing a somewhat serious character, but I bet he enjoyed doing the voice and noises for his character, and it really shines through in his performance throughout the film, watch it if you have haven't already, it's fantastic.

ARTHUR CHRISTMAS (2011)

WATCH THE TRAILER

I have so much love for this film, it's a very modern take on how the science of Christmas and Santa work on Christmas Eve night, only this year, a mistake is made and Santa forgets to give one child in the world any presents, to which Arthur, the main character goes out with his granddad and very old reindeer who end up pulling a very old sleigh called 'Evey', they travel across the entire world while we watch on, witnessing them getting in and out of all kinds of shenanigans, one involving very hungry lions, and another including the loss of their sleigh at one point. It's funny, with elements of suspense and happiness, it's the perfect modern take on how Father Christmas gets around billions of children in one night, and the lengths that the people of the North Pole will go to to ensure every child has the perfect Christmas. It's a must see, and has been since it came out 4 years ago!

Rightio guys, that's it for this Wednesday, I will see you again on Sunday with a brand new blog post, it won't be Christmassy this time though :( But you'll enjoy it (hopefully) nonetheless :)
