Christmas with Fortnum & Mason | The Christmas Express Hamper

In case you weren't aware as to who Fortnum and Mason are, they're an upmarket department store in the heart of Piccadilly, London, established in 1707 by William Fortnum and Hugh Mason. Originally established as a grocery store, F&M eventually worked up a strong reputation for high-quality food and drink products, something which it would be continually known for well into the Victorian period. Despite being a department store, F&M are most renowned for their selection of expensive food, notably tea, biscuits and fruit preserves.

This Christmas, we decided to splash out and buy the Christmas Express hamper, which came with a variety of biscuits, jams, tea and coffee, as well as a few sweet treats such as a slab of biscuity chocolate - something I was very happy to see sat amongst the straw packaging. Seeing as such a luxury item has come into our possession, I wanted to blog about it, because what could be more festive than a Christmas food hamper from Fortnum and Mason?!

F&M

The hamper is handmade from fine quality willow, complete with a carry handle and leather buckles with gold hardware. The hamper itself is rather deep, deceptively so! The whole thing comes full of white straw, carefully cushioning each and every one of its contents, although we now aren't entirely sure what we're going to do with it all! I wonder if it can be recycled?

'Your parcel of joy'

As soon as the hamper is opened, it comes with a note and a little booklet which tells you a little about the company and what can be found inside the hamper you have chosen. A note can be written specifically by the person who buys the hamper, which was the case with ours. I won't show you what the note said as it's rather personal from my parents, but you'll be able to see the emblem and their rather fetching logo!

'Packed full of...'
