A Cosy Homemade Melted Hot Chocolate Recipe

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Serves: 2
Calories: Sod it, it's Christmas

Ingredients

*480ml whole milk
*2tbsp. caster sugar
*110g 75% cocoa chocolate
*1/2tsp. vanilla extract
*Whipped cream (optional)
*Marshmallows (optional)

Method

1) Combine the milk and sugar in a saucepan, then place over a medium heat.
2) While the milk is gradually heating, finely chop the chocolate and place in a bowl.
3) Melt the chocolate either in the microwave or by melting it on in a glass bowl, over some boiling water.
4) Once the chocolate has partially melted, stir the chocolate periodically so it doesn't burn or stick - do this until the chocolate has fully melted.
5) When the milk reaches the boil (with bubbles popping around the outside of the pan), pour the melted chocolate in and whisk.
6) Add the vanilla extract, whisk again and pour your homemade hot chocolate into some Christmassy, festive mugs (the more OTT the better).
7) If desired, add some whipped cream and sprinkle some mini marshmallows over the top.
8) Snuggle up on the sofa with a big fluffy blanket, Elf and your piping hot, deliciously smooth homemade hot chocolate.
