Watching England Vs. Italy at Wembley Stadium

We went to London on 17th of this month, starting the day off early as we set off to the capital. On the way, we stopped for an obligatory Starbucks and shared a chocolate muffin because completing our journey to the big city. We went straight to the venue just so we knew we would be in the area in good time. We headed to Las Iguanas for some lunch, which turned out to be more like dinner in the middle of the day. We were stuffed to the brim with amazing food and a couple of cocktails, for me, haha.

We went for a browse after that and then stopped for another coffee just before we had to make our way to the stadium. Luckily, there are staggered entry times, so it's very well managed and really chilled out. We were seated promptly and even had enough time to nip to the loo a few times before kick off. Either way, I couldn't recommend Wembley enough for a good day out, whether it be a football match or a concert. We have been there a few times to see Ed Sheeran, and we'll continue to go to this venue, preferring it even to the O2 Arena.

Anyway, the match kicked off and England were a bit slow to be honest, Italy, the opposing team, were running rings around us. They were as quick and as nimble as they always have been. They're really a fantastic team. So much so, we found ourselves one goal down before half time. The match resumed after around 15 minutes and it was as though a switch flipped in England's mindset. We ended up with a penalty which was taken by Harry Kane. Of course it ended up in the back of the net, so now we were drawing.

The pace begins to pick up, with people on the edge of their seats waiting to see what would happen next. Both teams were running from one end of the pitch to another in quick time, tackling each other left, right and centre to win the ball back. But it was as though we experienced a spark from somewhere because, before we knew it, England had scored another goal. So now we were winning 2-1. But the anticipation was that there was still time for Italy to equalise, and we couldn't have that, could we?

Fighting his way up to the Italian end of the pitch, Harry Kane gained possession of the ball, yet again, and ran like a gazelle through the defence and almost right up to the goal before kicking it in. We watched on as the ball flew through the air, hitting the back of the net with force as the crowd erupted. It was clear then, with the time that was remaining, that we were set for a 3-1 win.

It really couldn't have ended better for us, as England supporters. We look forward to seeing if there are other football matches going off at Wembley involving the England squad, because it really does make for a great day out for the whole family.
