What to Do with Your Pumpkin After Halloween
There are loads of things you can do with your pumpkin after Halloween ends, aside from putting it into your general bin to be sent to landfill. That and you shouldn't leave them on the ground in your garden, either, because they're no good for the hedgehogs. If you're wanting to keep the wildlife healthy and to ensure you're as sustainable as possible, then here are a few things you'll be able to do with your pumpkin after the spooky season ceases.
- Take out some of the pumpkin seeds and plant them in the ground so you have your own pumpkins next year
- Make a pumpkin soup
- Bake a pumpkin pie
- Roast the pumpkin seeds and eat them as a snack
- Use the pumpkin seeds and its innards to feed the local birds
- Compost your pumpkin in a compost bin, then use that compost to nourish your spring plants and summer flowers
- This isn't an idea for getting rid of your pumpkin after Halloween, but it's important that you do not compost pumpkins that you have painted, and you must not put them out for the wildlife to use as it could be toxic to them. Instead, always make sure you carve them so they're safe to consume by everyone and everything
