Festive Treats & a Walk in the Park: Choosing Our Christmas Tree

Every year, we go and get a real Christmas tree from a local plant and flower shop located in a park that's close to family. We normally go with them to get our tree, but it worked out a little differently this year. We had half a Friday off this month, so we wondered what we could do with our time off. Something we decided to do that wasn't usual for us was to go and get ourselves a Christmas tree.

We chose a 6ft Nordman Fir tree instead of a Fraser or a Spruce. We were tempted to go for a 7ft tree, but refrained because we hadn't measured the space we had. However, the tree we got actually worked out being 6ft5in, so much taller than we've had in previous years that that seemed tall enough. It's also really bushy, but we'll reveal our decorated tree to you soon in a separate tree reveal blog post.

After we purchased our Christmas tree, we carried it to the car and then went back to have a hot drink and a slice of cake. I went for a Biscoff parkin and a latte, whereas Tom went for a flat white and a gingerbread cake. It looked delicious. I didn't try it, but it looked very moist and golden - just what you'd expect from a cake that tastes of gingerbread.

There wasn't a market on because it was a weekday, but they do have the Christmas mark on during the weekends, which is what we did last year. However, it wasn't very busy this year in comparison, so I think it might be worth going on a weekday again, just for ease :) Either way, it was such a lovely day and I wanted to share some of the pictures I took with you - enjoy!
