5 Things Getting Me Through Winter

Winter is in full swing, so it got me thinking about my winter comforting essentials. I've been digging out my Oodie, my hot water bottle, my big mugs and my fur blankets. But I thought that if those are my essentials for winter, then it might be helpful for me to tell you what they are so you can be the warmest you can be for the last bit of the cold season. So, here are five things that are getting me through winter right now.

1. Blankets

Of course, blankets are the number one snuggly winter items that are getting me through the season. I have wool ones, fur ones, sherpa ones and cotton ones - one for every occasion and temperature. There's something lovely about settling down on the sofa and covering your legs with a warm, cosy blanket.

2. My Oodie

My Oodie just had to make the list. When it's really cold outside, it's pretty much all I'll wear, morning, noon and night. It's so thick, soft and cosy. It's like constantly being hugged by a sherpa blanket - what could be better than that?!

3. A hot water bottle

A hot water bottle is a must when the weather turns cold. It's easy to make up and it stays nice and warm for hours. I like to make up a hot water bottle and then sit with it under my blanket when it's really cold outside. It warms my body through from top to bottom, so it's definitely a winter staple.

4. Hot beverages

One of the ways I like to warm my body through in the winter is to have a hot cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. I don't think anything else warms your insides through, right through to your bones, better than a hot beverage, and the choice is entirely up to you.

5. Our log burner

I know, not everyone has a log burner. But when the weather turns cold, we like to light a fire in our log burner. It warms the bones of the house through, especially if it's been on for most of the day. I wouldn't be without one now. If we moved to a house without a log burner, I would have to have one installed.
